3 Years Later
Aparna sat down in the car and opened the laptop. Her presentation was due in couple of hours and she was not at all prepared. Although, she was sure that her team would have prepared a rough sketch for her to follow but still she needed some time to go through the details.
She was still engrossed in her presentation when suddenly her phone rang.
"Ma'am, where are you?"
"I am on my way, Shekher. And, why do you sound so panicked?" she asked briskly looking at her watch.
"Ma'am, Mr Singh is here and he is continuously asking about you," she heard Shekher reply in a shaky voice.
"Okay, give the phone to him."
Mr Gautam Singh was her client for whom she was designing and structuring his dream hotel, Feathers. And, right now she knew that no one, not even her assistant Shekher Kumar could convince Mr Singh that everything was under control.
Sighing she closed her eyes and smiled just as a familiar voice said hello.
"Mr Singh, I am on my way. So, please do not worry. Just relax and leave everything to me."
Somehow her soothing and reassuring voice was enough to convince her client.
As Aparna disconnected the call, she looked out of the window at the passing cars. It had been 3 years since she had landed in the city of Delhi. Although, she couldn't call this home but still the city had given her a lot of things.
When she had come to Delhi she had nothing but a 3 year old child in her arms and degree in architecture. In these gone years, she had been able to climb the professional ladder in the architectural firm she worked. But nothing had given her more pleasure than the pride she had felt when her daughter's school had accepted Prakriti without a father's name.
Aparna smiled thinking about the huge grin on her daughter's face when they had enrolled her in a boarding school in Darjeeling. Although, she missed her but Aparna was content that she was happy and safe.
But she couldn't have done all this without the help of Madhu and Harish. They had been there for her through thick and thin. Madhu had even postponed her wedding when she had heard that Aparna was willing to file for divorce.
Yes, she was finally free now.
Her divorce had come through a year ago. She had pressed no domestic violence charges much to Harish's chagrin. Being her lawyer, he had tried his best to convince her to file a 498A but Aparna's fear of Kavin had got better of her. The only thing she had wanted was to get rid of him once and for all.
Shaking her head, she looked away just as the car neared the gates of her office.
Now, her only aim was to build a successful career for herself and bring up her daughter with confidence and love.
