Nishant's heart stopped the moment he heard her and then the beats doubled. Everything inside him became alive with the words that he had been waiting to hear for so long.

"I know you have moved on but I can't stop............"

Everything inside him took a nosedive the moment he heard her. He felt Naina squeezing his hand but he brushed it off and turned away from everybody.

Breathing hard, he took the steps in double and reached upstairs and closed the door with a bang.

Moved on?

Since the time he had met her and started falling for her, he had never felt anything but an undeterred feeling of love. Even when she had left him, the feeling hadn't died.

But now, he only felt anger, that to so intense that it burned out the feeling.

"What the hell, Nishant? She just confessed your love for you," said Dhruv as he came inside the room.

"Tell her to leave."

"What?" Vikrant asked stunned from the doorway.

Slowly Nishant turned and opened his eyes.

"Yes, tell her to leave."

"Have you seriously lost it?" Dhruv asked trying to reason with him.

"Who brought them here?"

"I did," Sid said looking at him strangely.

"You got them here, now take them back," Nishant said looking at him sternly.

"Nishant, why are you doing this? You have waited so long for her to come back," Naina said coming near him.

"Nishant, she made a mistake of leaving you once. Now don't make that same mistake," Naresh Naik said as he came near him.

"Tell her to leave, NOW."

Everybody was looking at him curiously trying to figure his unexpected behaviour.

"Okay, we will tell her that. But at least tell us the reason," Naina said palming his face.

"Because she thinks I have moved on."

"That's it?" Dhruv asked clearly stunned.

Nishant looked at him irritated and brushed off Naina's hands.

"Will you tell her to leave or should I do it?"

"No, he doesn't need to. Actually, nobody needs to. I'll leave myself," Aparna said standing near the doorway.

After Nishant had stormed upstairs, she hadn't been able to gather the courage to follow him. But when she did, his words completely shattered her.

The moment he heard her voice, he turned away. He heard everybody leaving slowly and felt his father squeeze his shoulder reassuringly before he left.

His mind was still fuming with her words but he still relaxed a little realising that he was alone in the room, but suddenly, he felt her behind him and immediately all his muscles became rigid with tension.

"I saw the CD you sent to Prakriti and I thought you still had........." Aparna stopped as she choked on her tears.

Nishant's eyes widened as he heard her but he did not turn in fact he didn't even move.

"But now I know I am not welcome here anymore."

She looked at his stiff back and understood that there was no hope left.

She has lost him.

Lost him forever.

What an irony! She was on the same side as he had been the day she had left him. She remembered her hurtful words and instantly felt their whiplash and closed her eyes as she winced.

Nishant, on the other hand, tried to control the senses, which were getting jumbled up. Her scent, her standing so close to him made him completely jittery.

Say something dammit or just leave, he mentally told her.

"Nishant, I swear I'll leave.........but.........just turn towards me once.........please," Aparna said sobs breaking her voice again and again.

For the love of god, stop it, Nishant felt like saying. But no matter how angry he was, he could never turn her down.

Slowly he turned towards her but did not open his eyes for he never had the strength to resist her tears.

Aparna looked at his face and found him completely alien. The after effects of the accident were evident from the marks on his forehead, neck and temples. She wanted to touch them to soothe their pain but she knew she couldn't.

He isn't yours.

She nodded trying to make herself accept the inevitable truth.

Now all you need is to look in those eyes for one last time.

"Please, open your eyes just once."

Unable to resist, Nishant opened them and froze.

For the past months, since she had left him, he imagined seeing her again and again. But the face he had seen in his dreams repeatedly was not this.

This was a woman who had been battered to the last straw. Slowly his gaze travelled over her face and he noticed everything from her ashen colour to her trembling lips. But the thing that completely shook him was the emptiness in her eyes.

She had definitely lost weight, a lot of it to be precise. There was no makeup on her face, not even a single stroke of kajal in her eyes. Her eyes were swollen, which meant she had been crying for a long time.

Aparna shivered a little and Nishant instantly wanted to take her in his arms but somehow resisted.

"I haven't come today to make you come back to me. I am here coz I love you and you have the right to know."

She stopped, gulping down the tears threatening to escape.

"You were right. It was right there in front of my eyes but I never acknowledged it. Today when I did, I believe in it without any shame, without any doubt, without fear," he heard her say with conviction.

But, he couldn't say a word; all he could do was look at her and observe everything she was saying.

She brushed off her tears and continued.

"If you have moved on then I wish you all the happiness, but I will never stop loving you because I can't. I love you and I'll yearn for you till my last breath," Aparna said her resolve finally failing as she started to sob.

This was same room where he had once confessed his love for her again and again, begged for it again and again but now, there was nothing left between them.

He didn't love her anymore.

Lost and disillusioned, Aparna started to turn away from him.

"I am sorry I came here. I'll leave."

Saying this, she stepped out of the room.
