The next few months passed by quickly and Namjoon felt happier now it was reaffirmed that the other members were on his side. He knew they always had been but hearing them say it made everything a little better. He still missed you every day but he knew now that he could wait. No matter how long it took you to come home, he could wait.

Christmas came and went and before either of you knew it, it was almost time for you to graduate. You felt so much pride in this, no matter what life had thrown at you, you had always worked hard and now your life long dream was about to be yours. You were about to graduate with a degree in creative writing. Namjoon felt so much pride too, and couldn't wait to celebrate with you, even if it was from opposite ends of the globe.

Namjoon was restless the night before your graduation, he was so excited for you and so devastated that he had to work that night, so he wouldn't be able to talk to you until the early hours of the following morning, his time. Just as he was finally about to doze off, his phone buzzed and the still broke screen came to life. 'Shit,' he said under his breath and pounced on it quickly. Yoongi would not appreciate being woken up at this time.

'Hello?' He whispered, getting out of bed, slowly opening the creaky door and making his way to the living room.

'Hi,' you breathed back, your voice crackly. It didn't take long for him to realise you were crying.

'Y/N?' He said back softly, his heart hurt from the pain in your voice.

'He's gone...Namjoon...he's...oh god...' you began to sob on the other end of the phone. Your words hit Namjoon like a fast moving train and knocked the breath from his lungs. What was he supposed to say? Words couldn't deal with this, you needed him there and he felt that more than ever.

'Y/N...I...I'm so sorry.' Was all he could finally think to say. Then he came to a conclusion that was probably going to get him into a lot of trouble. 'I'm coming, I'll get the next flight okay?'

'You can't.' You sighed heavily on the other end of the phone. 'You know you can't do that.'

'It's fine, I'll sort it okay?' He stood up and began to head back to his room.

'Okay,' you whispered back, 'I can't do this on my own. I'm terrified.'

'I know baby, I'm coming. I'll be as quick as I can okay? I'll call you from the airport.'

'Thank you Namjoon, I love you.'

'I love you too,' he replied and pushed the door open to his room. He flicked the light on, suddenly not caring about Yoongi's lack of sleep.

'Hey man, what the hell?!' Yoongi said, sitting upright in bed. His eyes widened as he saw Namjoon shoving clothes and other belongs into a bag. 'Erm what are you doing?' He asked calmly, lucky enough to not yet know Namjoon's plan.

'I'm going to see Y/N. Can't really talk now, I'll explain later.' Namjoon said, not even stopping to look at Yoongi.

'What?!?' Yoongi shouted, ridiculously loud for the hour. 'Are you insane? We've got a show tonight!' Namjoon still continued to pack. 'Namjoon!' Yoongi got up from his bed, grabbed Namjoon by the shoulders and spun him around. He looked him straight in the eyes, an act hard for someone so much shorter than him. 'What the hell is going on?' Namjoon took what felt like his first breath since he had hung up the phone. He slumped down onto the bed and threw his hands in his hair. The door creaked open and suddenly everyone was there.

'What's going on hyung?' J-hope asked Yoongi and then turned to Namjoon. Namjoon sighed heavily.

'Her dad, I didn't think he was that sick but apparently he is....was.' He said, just loud enough for everyone to hear.

'He's dead?' Jin asked bluntly and all Namjoon could do was nod. He didn't want to just be sat here doing nothing, he wanted to be on his way to you. He wanted to hold you and tell you everything was going to be okay, even though he couldn't promise that and he couldn't do either of those things sat right here. He stood up.

'I need to go, seriously.' He picked up the bag full of...well he didn't even know what he had packed. He was in too much of a rush to pay attention. 'I'll ring the company on the way to the airport, tell them there's a family emergency or something? They have to let me go...right?' Namjoon looked around at all his friends faces. They knew this wasn't going to happen as much as he did deep down. 'Well, they can't stop me if I'm already on the plane.' He made for the door but Tae moved to stop him.

'Hyung, you can't. You know you can't. They'd kill you, and us for not stopping you.' He said, apology in his eyes. 'Trust me, all I want to do is let you walk out that door and get on that plane. Hell, I'd get on it with you if I thought it would help. But you can't, please hyung.'

'She needs me.' Namjoon replied to all this with the only words he could muster. The other members were right, he had got caught up in the moment and made a promise he couldn't keep. He had seriously fucked up and he knew it.

'She needs you to be calm. She needs you to talk to her.' Jimin said, stepping forward and putting a hand on Namjoon's shoulder. 'You can't talk to her on a 13 hour flight.'

'I hate to be the one who says this...' J-hope began. 'But was this not the only other reason she wasn't coming home. Does this not mean she can come home now?' Namjoon dropped his bag at this realisation but it made him even more confused. Would this really mean you could come home? And was it completely awful to feel excited about that idea, despite the situation? He shook the thought from his head for a moment, of course, that was a horrible thing to think. But J-hope had a valid point. He stored it away in the back of his head to think about later. For now he needed to focus on fixing the promise he had just so hastily made. He made for the door again but Tae stood more strongly in front of it.

'I'm not going, your right, I can't go. But now I need to fix this.' Namjoon said and Tae immediately moved.

Namjoon made his way up the stairs to the roof, pulled out his phone and typed your speed dial. You picked up on the ring. He could hear you were still crying but you sounded calmer somehow.

'I'm so sorry Y/N...I can't....' he began but you cut him off.

'I know Namjoon. You can't, I know that.' You reply, touched by the fact that the thought of just getting on a plane for you even crossed his mind.

'I wish more then anything that I could,' he replied, slightly relieved that you didn't seem mad at him.

'I know, I wish you could too. I don't know what I'm meant to do now.'

'Where are you?' He asked.

'Still at the hospital.' You answered.

'Okay, find a nurse or your fathers doctor. They'll help you and tell you what to do. Shit, I wish I was there to help you too. I just want to hold you so tight and never let go.' He heard you let out a little sob on the other side of the world.

'I could really do with that right now.' The sound if you taking a deep breath reached his ears. 'I'll be okay though, I have to be. I don't have a choice. Oh...the doctors coming. I'll talk to him and call you back okay?'

'Okay, I love you.' Namjoon replied, but you were already gone.

He lent his forehead against the roof door, the phone call had ended just as he had reached it. He pulled the door open and was met by the same night scape as that night he had broken his phone. He sighed. Any one of those shining lights could be extinguished at any given moment. All of a sudden that thought terrified him. How precious life was but also how fast it could all be gone. He was going to get you home. You needed to live your precious days together. You'd both had enough of being apart for one lifetime.
