Since Inoue got home, Kusakabe had told Hibari about her condition, basically everything the doctors said, he relayed it to Hibari. -And something else.

"Recently, Inoue-san has been having nightmares that prevent her from sleeping." He brought up after Hibari had questioned why she looked so tired and weak, "She's completely exhausted."

"I can see." Hibari deadpanned, watching the girl acting chipper as she played around with Hibird in the garden. "Has she been eating properly?"

Kusakabe frowned, "She tried to eat but she never finished the meals. She's clearly still affected by the incident."

It slightly irked him to see her putting on a mask for all the herbivores so they wouldn't worry about her. As if it'll fool him, she should just break down and let everything out to him.

It was obvious she wasn't fine, she was pale and she had dark bags under her eyes. It was clear that she was still being haunted by that memory, he wasn't surprised.

So first on the list, force her to eat.

It was fairly simple.

Inoue was confused when she went to sit down on her chair only to be picked up and moved onto Hibari's lap. He didn't even have his own plate of food, only hers. She wanted to ask if he'd already eaten, but he was practically glaring at her to eat.

"Isn't this...? Rice with furikake*?" She asked although wasn't complaining, she really liked plain food.

"You like it, so eat." He sounded pretty demanding. Unfortunately, she hadn't much of an appetite... so she had a little before turning to try and tell him she was full only to be glared at.

Surprisingly, she actually finished it. "I thought you said you weren't hungry?"

Technically she never got the chance. Her ears heated up a little, "I-It's because you were glowering at me so I didn't have a choice..."

Technique #1, success. He didn't have to try #2, which was personally feed her, he wasn't looking forward to even attempting that one.

She ate normally over the week and Hibari hadn't seen her have any nightmares so far, so it was steadily returning to normal.

Until her mother called, wanting her to spend the weekend at her actual home; he allowed it, since they were her family and were probably worried. It really should have gone the other way round, staying with her family and then going to Hibari.

Well it worked out, Hibari had his weekend school patrols to take care of and if Inoue was at home, a home surrounded by pompadour thugs, she'd be safe. As lawless as that household was, it was a miracle Inoue hadn't become something deplorable.

She was expecting to be fawned over like a child, it was enough from her mother but even her brother began trying to 'be nice' by offering to put on 'the funniest' horse videos he's watched, it was a collection he'd put together himself. She was genuinely disgusted.

This makes it seem like she hated her family or something, no, she loved them a lot, they were just so annoying that she had nothing but negative things to say. Her mother was prisoning her with questions about Hibari and asking 18+ rated questions, that she'd never ever get the answer to even if Inoue had done half the stuff she mentioned. Which she hadn't, none of it.

It was even worse when her brother joined in, he hadn't even had a girlfriend before, the king of cherryboys! Yet he was spouting off about BDSM like a genius!? She had to put up with this for the weekend?

Although she was slowing dying on the inside, it did actually get her mind off of things.

If she ignored all their dirty and gross questions and delusions, it was kind of enjoyable...

Dinner was nice, her mother cooked her favourite and her brother wasn't watching any stupid horse videos, no he moved onto cats now, he was trying to get Eiji to do something dumb. Inoue mainly played with her hamster while watching TV, it was reminiscent of Roll and Hibird, she just loved small animals...

He was called Guts, because he was chubby. That's about it, he was brown.

"Mai, I'm going to bed now, Yukihiro's already passed out too... It's late, you should be sleeping too." Her mother's soft voice called out from the stairs, "I'll help you upstairs so," Inoue went over and let her mother support her as they trudged up the stairs, "Do you need help with anything else?"

"I'm fine." Though she says that, the image of her crawling to the bathroom to brush her teeth and then back to her room was slightly deterring, "Actually, could you help me stand while I'm brushing my teeth." Her mother grinned, probably happy to be relied upon for once. She was young though, only in her thirties. 39 is still thirties.

She had Yukihiro at 17 with an old partner of hers, they were together for a while but split up when he was 3. With another man, after dating for around a year, Mai came along. And papa left. With a month old infant and a five year old child, it was fairly difficult until she got a job as a newswoman somehow.

Well enough about her life.

Inoue, they're all Inoue so from now on it's Mai, she was lying awake on her bed but she was so tired she couldn't move. The problem was though, she was scared. She'd realised it after staying with Hibari, but when she was away from him, for some reason, the nightmares would come back. She hadn't assured it or anything but was pretty sure. Since they suddenly stopped after she was released and with him again.

Mai was convinced that just being in her own bed would prove enough comfort to steer them away, but no. She woke up screaming and crying, sweating like crazy. She could barely register her mother and brother's worry stricken faces beside her. Panting and feeling sick, she tried calming her heart and breathing but only felt her stomach lurch; seeing the girl struggling to hold down her dinner, Yukihiro passed her a bin quickly and *Insert gross throwing up noises* she was sick.

The boy was told to go back to bed by their mother, who stayed by Mai's side and held her hand as the girl curled up in a ball, sobbing. The older woman knew she wasn't going to be going to sleep again anytime soon. She knew what would help though, even if it's around 2:00 in the morning; if it's a call from her, he'll definitely answer.

She wasn't expecting him to pick up after just three rings.

"Hibari-kun? It's Mai's mother." As if he completely understood what was happening from just the fact that her mother was calling so late, he answered simply before hanging up.

"I'm coming."

If it were any other time, the woman would be screeching.

He arrived in record time and practically ignored her as he stormed in and up to Mai's room.

Seeing her shaking form under the blankets stirred him into action; he took off his jacket and rushed to her side. "Mai."

She turned slowly and sat up, her head was down and her shoulders shook; immediately Hibari wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer, she buried her head into his stomach.

"Kyoya..." She whispered, gripping the back of his shirt.

"Stop crying. It's fine now." Mai smiled at his uncompassionate words, she loosened her grip a little and he sat beside her, letting her rest her head on his shoulder; she wrapped her arms around him again.

"...I know."

When she next woke up, it wasn't from a nightmare. She was snug beside Hibari, who always looked perfectly relaxed when he slept. In her tired state, she found the courage to lean up and press a chaste kiss on his forehead in thanks.

He tightened his hold on her.
