The next day, Hibari was nowhere to be found.

Dino.

It was definitely Dino.

That battle maniac had gone to fight Dino again.

She doubted he'd stop unless something important came up, although... it's hard to know what he considered 'important'.

He never came home at night, but it was unlike during the ring conflict, where she basically followed him all over Japan; she didn't follow him this time, instead, she was staying with her friends.

Kyoko, Haru, and Chrome, who was healthy and teaching her again. She hadn't spoken all that much to the group for a while, and she always had so much fun around them too.

"Mai-chan! How's Hibari-san?" -Except when these questions pop up. They were at Haru's house, just hanging out and eating cake, talking, girl stuff basically. Then Haru had to bring that up, after yesterday...

"U-Uh... F-Fine!" Obviously, she was troubled about something, being so jittery. Chrome giggled to herself but didn't ask questions, the others were just oblivious.

"Really? How is it, dating someone like Hibari-san?" Kyoko asked, taking a bite of the victoria sponge cake she'd brought, Haru was taking a bite out of a chocolate chip cookie, Chrome was just listening quietly.

"Kyoya's nice. He teases me sometimes, but he's really assertive, believe it or not..." Mai sighed, the memories, although nice, were embarrassing.

"Cloud man is?" Chrome muttered, scooping up some buttercream from her cupcake onto her finger.

Mai grabbed a fork and prodded her fudge tart, she nodded, "It was really surprising.."

"Ahh~ how romantic desu!~" Haru swooned, swaying back and forth, likely dreaming about something whimsical.

"I think you two are good together." Kyoko smiled, putting a hand over Mai's, stopping her from butchering the tart any further. "You shouldn't be so paranoid."

"Boss won't let anything happen." Chrome smiled; yes, she couldn't hide it from them, could she? She was scared about losing Hibari, as crazy as the notion of him every dying, is. It didn't used to be this way, it was like it just hit her yesterday, how much she needed him.

She knew the best, how strong he was, how he was in good hands, how strong Tsuna was.

"Right! You knew about everything from the start, Tsuna-san and the others are strong!" Haru grinned, "I wonder if I should be worrying about Tsuna-san the same way..." -Before muttering that.

"Haru-chan, I think if we worry, then Tsuna-kun will worry too." Kyoko chuckled, moving on to her second cake. "Mai-chan's a little different. Hibari-san can't stop fighting, and Mai-chan loves that, right?" Mai nodded, "But she doesn't like seeing him hurt, so she can't help but be conflicted."

"Boss is different. He doesn't like fighting." Chrome added, turning to Mai, "Do you still want to practice?"

Mai smiled, albeit strained, "I need to get stronger, to stand beside him." She was even thinking of picking up martial arts, ever since Fon had spoken to her, she couldn't help but dwell on it.

"How admirable desu!" Haru exclaimed, leaning forward slightly with a shine in her eyes.

"Ah!" Kyoko smiled, "Why don't you make him something? Like a charm?" She suggested, the other girls nodding along to her suggestion.

"Charm?" Mai repeated, "I think I already gave him one, I went to a shrine and got one... It's pretty embarrassing... but it wasn't a good fortune one." She explained, a tint of pink on her cheeks.
