After practically scaling a mountain, talking to some monks, going on another hike, some religious stuff and hours passing, they were finally finished with that temple. Mukuro was beginning to think it'd have been better if Hibari was here instead of him, he was forced on some pilgrimage or something...? He was the least religious person he knew.

Mai was enjoying herself at least, she bought charms, small figures, an umbrella, and some other miscellaneous objects that would decorate Hibari's barren house. Not so barren after Mai moved in but still pretty barren.

She was overjoyed when the 'famous' restaurant selling mapo tofu was still open. She dragged Mukuro in there with her, too overwhelmed with excitement to see how much he didn't want to go in.

"I wonder if they have different levels..." She muttered as they were walking to their table, probably talking about the spiciness - something he despised.

"I must ask as I'm curious, but how did you even end up with someone like him?" Mukuro asked in a deadpan-like voice, he probably still couldn't believe Hibari managed to get a girlfriend. Exactly like how a hundred other people still can't.

"With Kyoya? I... don't really know? At first I wasn't even sure if we were dating since it wasn't really clear." Mai answered slowly, holding her chin in thought.

Mukuro stared at her bemusedly, "You didn't know?" Well, he could imagine how horribly awkward and difficult it would have been. Especially when considering that guy's personality.

"You know, you usually would ask the other person 'Please go out with me', or something like that, but neither of us did... It was more of me accepting a non-existent offer to go out with him, vaguely." Again, Mukuro looked at her like she was stupid. No, perhaps they're both just so far below his expectations that it's shocking.

"What made you actually realise you were together then?" He loved small talk, favourite thing in the world. It wasn't as if he couldn't care less about this topic, he just asks the first things that crop up in his head. He totally cared about their relationship.

"Hmm... I came into school one day on the weekend I think to see Hibari and, well, reassure myself. I'm pretty sure I managed to ask and then..." She flushed upon thinking about it and cut herself short, Mukuro managed to piece together what happened somewhat and sighed.

"It's somehow more boring than I expected." Mukuro huffed, what was he looking for? Drama of the year? Thankfully she left out Hibari being a softie.

"Really? But we've been together for five years now..." The red on Mai's cheeks was clear as day. Oh it was so obvious that she held so much love for that guy inside of her. It's nauseating knowing who that guy is though.

Although he had a lot more complaints than compliments he decided to leave his opinion be. She probably wouldn't appreciate him selling himself to her - joke or not.

She was far too occupied with being talked out of ordering the hottest mapo tofu the restaurant sold by the waiters. They were adamant she wouldn't be able to handle it, apparently there was even a challenge. The staff had let that one slip and Mai was all over it.

Meanwhile, Mukuro just ordered a steamed bun, simple and tasty. He wasn't that hungry either, the pilgrimage really did it for him. Too much fresh air.

On Hibari's side, he was on a plane.

To China.

That's all that needs to be said.

Tsuna was having a break from all of the attempts on his life that have ceased thanks to Dino and the Varia. He didn't even have to lift a finger; Reborn said that's because he's a lazy boss, other families seem to think it's his trust in his subordinates. The former is the correct answer, with the addition of wimpy boss.

Mai was the star of many videos and the center of attention at this shop. She was burning through the dish with no trouble and the complimentary milk was not being drunk either. She even ordered another bowl halfway through the first.

To be honest, Mukuro wouldn't be surprised if she was on the front page of a video streaming site tomorrow. The staff were taking pictures of her, probably to mount on the wall or something. Was this really such a big deal?

It's probably not even the spiciest thing they could make and yet what is with this uncomfortable crowd around them?

After three bowls of the stuff Mai finally gave in to Mukuro's antisocial and steadily increasing irritation. They left the building without paying, it was on the house apparently, they were sent away with loud cheers and congratulations.

Mai, for one, didn't remember Fon saying a thing about the friendly service. Perhaps because his last visit was a while ago.

Well the food was heavenly so it was worth the trip.

Now there was just sleeping another night, walking around town, and then going back home. It was only a weekend trip, Hibari shouldn't be that mad, right?

He shouldn't be but when she thinks about the information circle he has and the amount of people he controls, she's beginning to think that he's aware of everything she's doing.

She took out all of the trackers and mics from her clothes and bag though! Maybe Hibi-

"Mei?" Mai called warily, knowing that the bird was always with her but unsure of whether or not the bird held a little tracker too.

The yellow bird landed on her shoulder where she took it into her hand. Mukuro merely watched her from the side, probably curious as to what she was doing. Although he likely already knew what she was thinking.

She looked at the bird's feet, wings, feathers, everywhere, and no little red light, no beeping, no metal contraption thing. Lucky~!

Little did she know it was inside the bird. Hibari made sure of it before giving the bird to her.

He had to be extra sure that he could find her wherever and whenever. He never knew it would prove useful as it was mainly just a backup. She was okay with him having trackers and stuff placed on her so it's acceptable for him to go so far isn't it?

God knows why she allows him to.

She had an emergency button, a flare, a retractable pair of tonfa that she doesn't know how to use, pepper spray, and a wide understanding of how the human body works and it's weak points that Hibari continues to forget about - that combined with steel tonfa is a pretty reliable defense. Not to mention she had illusions that would work on any normal person anyway...

Normally you would break up with someone as possessive and protective as that, right?

Not Mai, she was peculiar just like Hibari.

Actually when she found out he was that protective it just made her like him even more. It was so against his character and she found it adorable.

Meanwhile in Chengdu airport a certain Japanese man was wreaking havoc on the staff there as he destroyed his way out.

He was in much more of a hurry than some businessman late for an important interview with the prime minister of some other country or something. Who cares if your flight was held up and you're now stuck in China. He has a girlfriend and a pineapple bastard to find and beat up for the latter.

So don't hound him about tickets and crap like that, wasn't he coming in on a private plane!?
