For a while, we were driving in silence. You could feel a tension in the air.

“Can I... Can I stay with you? I kind of told mom I will stay with Ronda. And she stayed at the party?” Stacy asked shyly.

“Forget about it. You are going home where you will have your ass kicked for being so irresponsible and stupid. What the hell were you thinking Stacy! You are just a child, for crying out loud! And have you lost my number? Why the hell didn't you call me first!” Animus yelled. His voice was so loud in the small car.

“Stop yelling, you idiot! We are going to crash! Fuck...” I breathed heavily. My heart was pounding in my chest. He scared me with that loud voice of his. Not to mention how scary he sounded.

“Of course you can crash at my place. And no more talking about this tonight. We are all overwhelmed right now and need to calm down.” Saying that, I glanced in the rare view mirror and glared at Animus. He just glared back at me. He had this fire in them, that made my heart beat faster. And not in a pleasant way.

“I think it would be better not to tell your parents anything right now, at least. If anyone asks anything, you got into a huge fight with your friend, but didn’t want to go home, so you stayed at my place.” I smiled at Stacy.

“Thank you so much, Amabel. You are the coolest person I know.” She smiled back. I chuckled.

“I might be cool, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be punished.” I smirked at her playfully. She laughed as well. But I guess Animus was not as happy with the plan as we were.

“Your parents deserve to know. Stacy, you could have seriously gotten hurt.” He said loudly, but didn’t yell this time.

“I know that, and I am sorry. It’s not like I really wanted to go. Ronda just kind of forced me to,” Stacy said quietly and took a deep breath.

“Well, you can forget about that poor excuse of a friend. I forbid you to talk to her.” I was shocked by Animus. Did he care about Stacy?

“Don’t worry, dear brother. I don’t want to be friends with her, anyway.” Now that really did shock me. Thank God I pulled at my house, because I could not drive. I was in a shock.

“What?!” I asked, looking from Stacy to Animus and back. “Brother?” Now that was something I wouldn't guess in a million years.

“Yeah, I am her brother. Stacy is my little sister. Martha is my mother. Grim is not my father. End of the story.” I could tell Animus didn’t want to talk about this subject, so I tried to let it go.

“You two are nothing alike. You look different. Stacy is sweet while you are... well... I better not say that out loud or you might kill me,” I said and quickly got out of the car. Stacy and Animus followed.

“No, no. Tell me please. I want to know what you think of me.” Animus didn’t let it go.

“I don’t want to. One smart person once said - if you have nothing nice to say, keep your mouth shut.” I opened the front door and ushered Stacy inside. I was actually freezing my ass off in my short-sleeve shirt dress. I took off my boots, and so did Stacy. Then she handed leather jacket back to her brother. I still couldn’t believe they were related. And that Martha, or anyone in that matter, never mentioned that she had a son. I have known her for 16 years now.

“Stay here. I’ll be right back,” I said to the tattooed guy who just went into the kitchen and opened the fridge.

I led Stacy to my bedroom. “You can sleep in my bed.” I took a t-shirt out of the closet and gave it to her. “You can wear this. It might be a little big, but it’s comfortable” I smiled at her.

“The bathroom is the second door to the left in the hallway. You can’t miss it as there is a bass-relief of a baby boy pissing in a toilet on the door. I have to go back to town, though. I left my drunk friends at the bar and they probably need to get home as well.” I chuckled. “Good night and I’ll see you tomorrow,” I hugged her and went to the door.

“Thanks,” Stacy said, before I closed the door after me. I went back to see Animus waiting at the front door with a beer bottle in his hands.

“Alright. I will not drive you home, but I will be kind enough to drive you to the bar. I left my stuff there and need to pick them up. Unless you live somewhere on the way,” I said as I bend down to put on my boots.

“Whatever,” he said from behind me as I pulled the zipper on my boot. I turned my head to look at Animus. He was staring at my butt.

“Hey!” I brought his attention back to my face. “Stop staring at my butt, asshole,” I cursed.

“What. You still own me for my blue balls.” He stepped closer.

“I swear if you come any closer, your balls won’t be the only ones blue,” I threatened.

“Please, like you could do anything about it.” He looked at me dangerously, but stopped.

“Let’s go. The sooner I get rid of you, the better” I grabbed my parka and rushed Animus out of the door. We both got in my car. This time, he got in the front passenger seat.

I can’t say I was looking forward to be alone with him in the car.
