Thank God the ride in the car was comfortably silent. Alright, who am I kidding? That was the most awkward silence I've experienced. At least for me. Animus was sitting emotionless and didn't seem bothered by silence at all. But I was not ready to break it either. There was just something about this guy that made me nervous. All his demeanor screamed danger to me and it started to become unbearable in the small space we were in. I wanted to get away from him so I could breathe.

After 20 minutes, I pulled into the parking lot right next to the only bar in town. We both got out of the car and I locked it.

Before I could go into the bar, he took my hand and stopped me. I looked at him.

"What?" I asked, even more eager to get away from this god like beast. What?

"Next time Stacy calls you to get her out of trouble, you tell me. I'll deal with that." I huffed, so he continued.

"I am not joking. You don't know what's best for her and wouldn't be able to protect her like I could." Was this guy serious?

"Says the one who was banging some chick against the wall when right on the other side of that same wall sat his 14-year-old sister crying because some pervert tried to touch her. Nice job you doing protecting her," I barked at him in anger and pulled my hand out of his grasp. I was so done with him.

"Well, it really was not nice to see you. Bye," I said and went inside the bar. To my surprise, Piper and Emma still were sitting by the table where I left them. Only now there were 2 guys with them.

"Oh, there you are. What were you doing 10 minutes into the bathroom?" Piper laughed. She was even more drank than before. I looked at the seat where I sat before. All my stuff was still there. Thank God.

"I was away for an hour. And I was not in the bathroom. I had to go to take care of something important. But I am back and ready to rock," I said and took a shot of what seemed like vodka out of one of the guys hands and downed the content of the glass. It was disgusting and burned my throat, but I didn't care anymore. Animus triggered something in me and I just wanted to get drunk and forget about tonight.

"Wow, easy there, baby. If you wanted a drink, all you had to do was ask." The guy from whom I took the shot glass laughed while I took off my parka.

"In that case, could you get me one? Or better yet, get the whole bottle, will you?" I smiled at him.

"Rough night?" He leaned closer to me.

"You could say that." I nodded.

"Well then, it's my duty to help this beautiful damsel in distress." He winked at me.

"By getting me drunk?" I laughed. Wow. I never felt so comfortable around strangers, but this guy made it so easy.

"By helping you to relax and have fun." He put a hand on my shoulder while getting up from his seat.

"Where are you going?" His friend asked him.

"I'm going to get us all drinks." With that said, he left to the bar.

"Robert, meet my new friend, Amabel. Amy, this is Robert. He is a local firefighter along with his brother Jason," Piper introduced us and pointed at the guy who I talked to second ago referring to him as Jason.

"Wow. I've never met a real firefighter before," I chuckled.

"It's your lucky day then, because now you are about to hang out with three. Steve is outside smoking, but he should be back any moment now." Robert smiled.

"Talking about the devil and he shall appear," Emma joked when another guy sat down beside her and put his arm around her shoulders.

"This is Steve," Emma said, pointing at the guy next to her.

"Hi. I'm Amabel, but you can call me Amy," I introduced myself.

"Well Amy, here's the drink you wanted." Jason put a tray full of shots on the table and sat down beside me.

"Well thank you dear sir," I grinned. We all took one shot. I shivered when the clear liquid moved down my throat.

"Don't appreciate the taste?" Jason nudged me with his elbow.

"No, not really. But who does, right?" I smiled while looked at him. He was quite handsome. Large built with muscles. His hair was dark brown and short. He had a round face, but not too much. Dark stubble around his jaw. Nice smile. Yeah, he definitely was good looking. My luck.

Time went, and I actually was having fun again. All three of those guys were funny and easy to talk to. I flirted with Jason as he did with me.

"Well, as much fun we are having, I think it's time to head home. We have work tomorrow, so..." Steve got up from his seat and so did Emma.

"You are going home with him, I assume." I smiled at her. She blushed. Ha!

"Yeah, I wouldn't want anything to happen to her while she walks alone, so..." Steve was suddenly shy. I mean he was 37 years old man. Get a grip on yourself, dude.

"Sure" Jason chuckled.

"Oh shut your pie hole." Steve glared at him but that was a playful glare.

"Yeah, we are going to go too, right baby?" Robert kissed Piper's cheek. She giggled and nodded.

"Great! So what, you are all leaving us?" Jason raised eyebrows.

"We are doing you a favor, man. I mean, not every day you get to be alone with a beautiful woman like Amy." Robert patted Jason's back. He looked at me and smiled.

"Alright. Well, I'll see you later then." I got up and hugged everyone.

"It was nice to meet you, Amy." Steve smiled at me. Then all four of them went out of the bar and left me with Jason.
