3 whole weeks I have been home and boy, was it boring. I was not allowed to do anything, and that was driving me crazy. Thank God lately I moved around a lot easier due to almost having no pain or soreness in my body. I used that to my advantage and took a long shower before I decided to cook something delicious. Alex was my designated babysitter for today.

“Come on Amy, I told you to rest, not to play housewife,” he groaned the moment he entered our kitchen.

“Housewife? More like a prisoner,” I mumbled. “I want to go to the town.” I finally announced. Instead of answering, Alex just laughed.

“I am serious. This has gone too far, Alex. For God’s sake, I am pregnant, not dying!” I yelled out in frustration.

“Not going to happen. I have work to do, so I’ll be in my room. You keep cooking whatever smells delicious there, but that’s all you are going to do today. End of discussion.” He ordered and disappeared into his room.

And like that, most of the next week went by.

It was Thursday and was cooking dinner for my dad and Alex. I was craving something spicy, so I found an online recipe for green Chile and chicken enchilada soup. I’ve never had it before, but looking at the pictures, my mouth was watering.

By the time I had finished, dad and Alex were home.

“Smells good. What did you make?” Alex was first in the kitchen.

“Go wash up and then you’ll see,” I ordered. When they had freshened up, I had served the table. We sat down and started to eat.

Suddenly, both my dad and Alex started to cough.

“What’s wrong?” I asked, worried.

“What the hell did you put in that soup? Chili sauce from the depth of Hell?” Alex asked. I frowned. The soup seemed fine to me.

“No. I just craved something spicy and found this recipe online. When I tasted it, seemed like it missed something, so I added some more chili.” I shrugged.

“Thanks to your pregnant ass, my mouth is on fire!” Alex ran to the fridge and drank milk from the carton.

“It is pretty spicy,” dad chuckled.

“Well, I like it, so shut up.” I rolled my eyes. Then the doorbell rang.

“I’ll get it.” Dad got up and went to answer the door.

I heard him talking to someone, but couldn’t make out a single word that was said. When he came back, someone followed.

“Hey there,” Tyler greeted me.

“Hi,” I simply answered. Ever since I was out of the hospital, he came to visit me as often as he could, or if he couldn’t, he called. I was confused as to how to act around him. On one side, I wanted to be near him, but on the other side, I was scared. I still hadn’t told him or anyone else about my pregnancy. The longer I waited, the harder it got.

Alex was ok with it. Lately, his and Tyler’s relationship had deteriorated. Tyler didn’t know the reason, but he was too macho to ask why Alex was so cold to him.

My dad, on the other had said that it would be better to tell him sooner rather than later. But it had to be that announced it. No one else knew, because it wouldn’t be fair to Tyler. Why was I such a coward?

“What are you doing here? Couldn’t call?” Alex asked.

“I wanted to see Amy, not that I own an explanation to you.” Tyler growled.

“Whatever.” Alex mumbled. He knew I hated when they fought.

“Not that I am not glad to see you, but what are you doing here?” I asked.

“Remember when I told you that Martha is preparing a party for your return?” Tyler asked.

“Yeah,” I said, unsure what this had to do with anything.

“Well, it’ll take place on next Saturday. She wanted it to be a surprise, but I convinced her that it would not be smart. I thought you would like to know about it in order to prepare for it physically and mentally.“Tyler explained.

“Thank you, I appreciate that. I am not too fond of surprises.” I smiled at his thoughtfulness.

“That’s what I thought. It’s going to be a pretty big thing. The whole gang will be there, some friends and... entertainment for the guys. The usual thing.” I knew why he hesitated to tell about the entertainment. It usually meant that there would be easy going girls that looked for attention, a wild night or were paid for their services.

I have been around them and was used to that scene, but that didn’t mean I was too fond of that.

“I thought we agreed that it would be a low key party,” dad asked confused.

“Yeah, but some of the guys that were helping talked about a party and the word spread through prospects and everyone else. Grim thought it would be a good idea to introduce her to everyone, so they knew she was off limits.” Tyler explained.

“And a huge ass party was the way to go?” Alex asked rhetorically.

“It’s fine. I’m just glad you warned me beforehand. Can I invite someone too?” I asked.

“Technically, that’s your party, so sure.” Tyler winked at me.

“Great. I’ll call Piper tomorrow. Would you like to stay for dinner?” I asked politely.

“Nah. I should go home.” He dismissed my invitation.

“Nonsense. She invited you and you will stay.” Alex grabbed Tyler by his hand and pulled him down on chair. Everyone looked at Alex like he had grown two heads. I thought he didn’t like Tyler anymore.

“Amy, be a dear and pour some of that delicious soup for our guest,” he smirked.

“But I thought you said it was...” I objected, but he stopped me.

“Forget about it. Just serve him already so we can have a nice dinner together.” He sat in his seat as well.

I shrugged and stood up. After I got a bowl, I served Tyler the dinner and sat back down.

“Bonn appetite!” I said and started to eat.

Suddenly, Tyler started to cough violently.

“The fuck is that?!” He asked while running to the sink and drinking water straight from a tap.

Dad and Alex started to laugh while I pouted. Was my soup really that bad?
