Chapter 48 (Boyfriend Duties)

Mich's POV

Two days nalang, Christmas na. Yipee! I can already feel the holiday breeze.

Since hindi pa ako nag-cchristmas shopping, nagschedule kami ngayon ni Cole na pumunta sa mall.

Actually, my tita really likes Cole. She always invites us to go to her place for lunch or dinner. Dun nga kami magcecelebrate ng Christmas eh. Nakakatuwa naman, may change of heart na si tita hihi.

I grabbed my towel then I headed to the bathroom to take a quick shower. After bathing, I wore my gray sweater and my black leggings and I blowdried my hair. I applied some powder on my face at sinuot ko na yung sneakers ko. Kinuha ko yung sling bag ko and I waited for Cole.

After a few minutes, may nagknock sa pinto. Great, andiyan na si Cole.

Pagkabukas na pagkabukas ko ng pinto

"Hey baby, you look beautiful." salubong niya.

I almost chuckled at our endearment. But, eto na naman. His flawless lies na pati ako ay napapaniwala niya.

"Shut up, baby." he laughed at me and he held my hand at naglakad na kami papunta sa parking lot.

While Cole was driving, I just decided to look out the window.

Walang ibang nag-ooccupy sa isip ko kundi etong pretend relationship namin. Kung hindi ba kami nagpapanggap, will he still call me beautiful? Will he still care for me this much?

Tsaka, I wonder kung anong magiging reaksyon ni tita pag nalaman niyang "break" na kami ni Cole.

Hayy, Mich. Do not overthink. Cole has always been there for you. I smiled upon remembering that thought. Oo nga, tuwing may lagnat ako, inaalagaan niya ako. Minsan nga eh nag-oovernight pa siya sa unit ko dahil natatakot daw siya na mag-isa ako. Hay, Cole is such a great friend.

Nung nasa mall na kami, we decided na sa bookstore muna magpunta.

"Baby, dapat libro ang iregalo mo kay Jade." Mahinang sabi ni Cole.

I stopped scanning the shelf nung nagsalita si Cole. Bakit naman book ang ibibigay ko kay Jade? Does he have any idea how much that girl dislikes reading?

"Why? She hates books." sabi ko.

Ramdam ko naman na lumapit siya sakin and nakiscan na rin siya.

"I'm planning to give her shoes tho, since she has the biggest collection of converse." sabi ko.

"Oh, why are you still planning to give her shoes kung marami na pala siyang ganon?"

I looked at him and nagsscan parin siya ng books doon.

"Because she likes shoes." napatawa naman siya.

"You know, mas maganda kung libro nalang talaga. Diba she's not good at formal write ups?" tumango ako doon.

"See, maiimprove ang writing skills niya kapag nagbasa siya ng libro. Besides, mas maayos kapag bibigyan mo siya ng bagay na wala pa siya kesa naman yung bagay na marami na siya."

Napangiti ako doon.

"Then help me pick which book to give."

He nodded at me then naghanap na kami ng book para kay Jade.

We ended up buying a book set. Dalawang book lang yun. The Selection and The Elite yung title. I really hope na magustuhan at basahin to ni Jade, ang cute ng cover nung book. Sana talaga eh basahin to ni Jade.
