"He seriously did that? Dude, I feel bad for you." Tessa said with support. Her eyes remained on the road.
I told her what happened between Matt and me. "Well, that means he has returned to his normal self. So has Luke." I said. Tessa took a glance at me.
"You've talked to Luke?" She asked. "And he wasn't, y'know, insane?"
"Yes, I've talked to him and no, he was sane." I replied. "He simply was friendly. This is after I told him that I still really want to be friends." I sighed and slumped deeper into Tessa's passenger seat.
"Uh, I don't know what to say about this. Do you think this is a good idea?" Tessa questioned. I nodded. "Well, if you're sure. At least everything is normal. Matt is crazy and steers clear off us. Luke is stuck with Naomi. You are single. The only change is that you, madam, are still badass."
I looked at her. "So it's normal for me to have no boyfriend and not be badass. Thanks for that, Tes." I sad sarcastically.
Tessa parked the car and we got out. I have been looking forward to today for ages. Today was Beach Day. A holiday celebrated be my friends and I every other month, on the second Sunday. Luke didn't even know about today. Tessa pulled her hair back into a high ponytail. "They should already be here." She said. "Ready?"
"Since the last time we left the last time." I said and linked arms with her. "This is a day that I really need."
I laid out my towel on the sand next to Laila. I sighed and laid down. The boys were playing volleyball and needed Tessa as an extra player to even out the teams. The water was cool, I had already tested it. But the sun was hot.
"I don't want to think about anything today." I mumbled. Laila mumbled a reply that I couldn't understand. I wanted to let go of what I needed to deal with. For example, Matt, Luke, Naomi, school, etc.
I seriously couldn't lay down the whole time. I didn't need to be that tan anyways. After about an hour or two, I decided to go into the water. I just sat in the shallow water. I prefer not to go into water deeper than my waist and swimming wasn't the best thing to do in the ocean. I laid back. I could feel the smooth sand under me.
My eyes snapped open at a voice. "Didn't know today was a beach day for you guys?"
"You just seem to be everywhere, Luke." I said. He helped me up. "No, we just decided to go out today." I lied. "What're you doing here?"
"Ah, Mackenzie wanted to come." He replied. "Fair warning, I saw Naomi down the shore. It's like our whole class is having a good time at he beach today."
I nodded. "I guess so. Well, later." I said eager to get out of this. I didn't have that much to say to him. I ran away and sat in the sand next to Kira who was quietly observing the game. Laila was trying to even out her tan.
"How's pretty boy? Saw you talking to him." She immeadiately greeted.
I took a deep breath. "He's good." I said with a couple head bobs. "He's here with his sister. He also told me Naomi's here with who knows who."
"Of course, he would know what Naomi is doing." She accused.
I defended Luke. "I think it was established that she clings to him, not the other way around." She just shrugged."And he's not that bad. He can be nice."
"Yeah. 'Not that bad.' 'Can be nice.' Not when you guys broke up." She muttered.
"Okay, are you trying to say that I shouldn't talk to him anymore?" My anger flared. "That it is bad that I'm trying not to ruin my whole relationship with him."
Kira raised her hands in the surrendering action. "I just don't want you hurt. I don't think he's up to good ALL the time. You see that even Tessa and Laila treat him differently." I relaxed.
"I know that. And I know that he isn't always good. Yes, I noticed that, too." I said. "But acting like nothing happened makes it all the more painful. Not talking to him doesn't seem like the thing to do. It makes me seem like I'm holding a grudge."
Kira looked at me. "Since when do you care about you're image?"
I shrugged. I was suddenly tired. Especially tired of arguing about my decision. "I don't know. But would you like to look mean?"
"I honetly wouldn't care." She replied. I laughed. That's right Kira never cares about how people see her. I forgot about that.
Hakuna Matata, I guess.
