I was walking with Luke in the hallways of our school. No one thought of me as a nobody imposing on the most popular guy in school. Everyone thought I was a badass that did whatever she wanted to.
We weren't talking just walking. It seemed like this walk to class was so long. I didn't mind it, though. I saw Matt and Naomi eyeing us. I knew a lot of people found it weird that I was trying my hardest into not forgetting Luke.
All of a sudden, Luke reaches for my hand. That's not the weirdest thing. The weirdest thing is that I didn't let go. In fact, I looked down and smiled.
I gasped for breath. I sat up in my bed. "Geez, a dream." At least it wasn't that dream Ron had of Kim at the prom and Kim like melted. That was creppy. Ah, Kim Possible that was a good show. I put my head in my hands and stayed there for awhile.
I eventually had to start getting dress. I decided on a plain white shirt with a long hem and a light brown blazer. I rolled the sleeves on. Simply jeans and a simply braid on the side.
"Hey kiddo," My dad greeted me. He plopped a pancake and two pieces of bacon on my plate.
I smiled. "Thanks Dad."
"Had good dreams?"
I sighed. "Debating whether it was good or not." I bit into the pancake.
"Well, did you feel like smiling or screaming when you woke up?" He suggested. I shrugged and finished my breakfast.
Ten minutes later I was on my way out of the house. As I was driving, I realized I was thinking of Luke. Like he was, smart, handsome, nice...most of the ti- Whoa, what's happening. I'm blaming this on the dream.
Of course, since this worries me, I tell Tessa. Well, actually she apparently "senses" something is wrong with me.
"Sydney!" Tessa was calling to me. I realized she had said my name like five times.
"Mhhhmm. Yeah?" I said absentmindedly. I was thinking about the dream again. Damn myself and my subconsicous.
She sighed. "You spaced out for like the whole time we've been walking. Which was all the way from the parking lot. Are you alright?"
I nodded. "Why wouldn't I be?"
"No, there's something wrong. Tell me."
"It was just a stupid dream."
Tessa started walking backwards so she can face me. "If it was a 'stupid dream', then why is it consuming your thoughts. You've had stupid dream before, they never affect you like this."
"No, it's just that..." I tralied off.
"It was something in the dream." She was reading my expression. I guess the eyes are the window to the soul, because Tessa sure was looking into mine. "It was someone. Pleeeeeeeaasse tell me." She pleaded.
I looked around. I opened the door to my locker. "Fine, I had a dream about Luke." I whispered.
"About Lu-" She asked loudly, but I covered her mouth with my hand.
"Lower your voice or I will kill you." I bluffed. "Better yet, I'll tell Luke about how you used to have the biggest crush on him."
She made muffled sound into my hand. I put my hand down. "So what? He probably already knew I did."
"Yeah, but he didn't know about it when we were little and you had it baaaaad." I said grabbing my books. "I remember, at one of our sleepovers you started mumbling his name in your sleep." I started laughing. Tessa got red. She never turns red. It was a sight to behold.
"Never tell him." She threatened. I shrugged. "So what was this dream about, huh?"
"Ugh, it was like Luke and I were still dating. No biggie." I said.
"So why is it bothering you?"
"I don't know. It just makes me remember."
"Ah, so you're having second thoughts." Tessa accused.
"Pffft, no." I said so convincingly. She rolled her eyes at me.
We were beginning to walk to class when someone stopped us. Give me your best guesses. A) Matt. B) Luke. or C) Naomi. Well if you guessed B) you'd be correct.
"Sydney, can I talk to you?" He asked.
Tessa gave me a look. How does it happen that he person you were just talking about comes around? "Sure, Luke."
"Tell him and your new guitar will somehow end up in pieces." Tessa said.
"Bye, Tesssssaaa." I waved to her.
She started walking but turned around to say one more thing. "I'm serious. I know where you live."
I rolled my eyes. "What do you need?" I smiled at him. He smiled back. We began walking to class at a very slow pace. Is anyone else having deja vú?
"Well, what I need is Naomi to leave me alone. But I don't think you can do that." He started. I laughed and he flashed me a smile. "Actually, it's this friend thing."
"Yeah?" I prodded.
He exhaled. "I don't think it's going to work. It's just that... I think I like you too much, for too long."
"So you're saying it's like an all or nothing kind of thing?" I checked. He sadly nodded his head. "Well, let me get back to you on that." I hurried off before my cheeks got really red. I don't even know why I was the one blushing.
I slumped down in my seat. Tessa was instantly in front of me. "So what happened? Did you like confess your undying love or something?"
"What the hell? That undying love died." I responded. I took in a deep breath. "What happened my dear, was that I was just given an ultimatum."
