Chapter 45.

I was back behind the counter down at the coffee shop, taking care of all the costumers that decided to take a quick coffee break before work/school. It was a pretty calm Tuesday morning so far which made the first work day after a three weeks long vacation a lot easier. I won't say that leaving Alexander's college dorm this morning was a easy thing to do, because it really wasn't, especially not since Alec was still fast asleep in his bed. His classes didn't start until 10am and since I started my shift at the coffee shop at 8am, I was so extremely jealous of him.
- Magnus? A vice suddenly asked and when I looked up from what I was doing, Alexander's friend Simon stood on the other side of the counter
- Hello there, Simon. How are you doing today? I said and smiled
- I'm doing absolutely amazing. I didn't know that you worked here? He answered and smiled politely back at me
- Well, now you know. Is there something special you would like to drink today?
- An ordinary coffee, thank you
It took me less than a minute to make his ordinary coffee and when I was done, I handed it to him.
- Here you go, I said
- Thank you so much, Magnus. It was lovely to see you again. I'm on my way back to my next class, but we have to catch up later, yeah? Simon answered
- Of course. Good luck in class today and if you see my dear Alexander, tell him that I already miss him
- I will
Simon left the coffee shop and I felt how the smile didn't leave my lips. If I'm going to be honest, it felt nice that Alec's friends actually likes me and it feels even better that I like them back. Trust me, it would have been chaos if I didn't get along with Alexander's friends. Anyways, around lunch time, the coffee shot got a lot crowded, but I couldn't really care less. All of the customers where being themselves today and no one tried to either flirt with me or threaten me. When five hours had passed, I was just about to leave the coffee shop but a familiar voice made me stop walking and when I turned around, I stood eye to eye with my dad.
- Dad, what are you doing here? I asked and raised my eyebrow
- Well, I remember that you told me that you worked here so I thought that it would be nice to say hi, he answered
- You drove all the way here only to say hi to me? I said chocked
- Is there something wrong with that?
- No, I'm just not used to the fact that people would do such thing for me
- Look, I'm sorry that I haven't been there for you in so long, but I'm going to be a better father, my dad answered
- Thank you
- I didn't just come all the way here to say hi. I also came because I have a really important question to ask
- What is it? I asked
- I'm planning on moving back to Indonesia, to our roots, and I'm wondering if you want to come with me?
- Sorry, what? You want me to move back to Indonesia with you? I haven't been there since I was two years old
- I know and that's why I thought you would like to move back with me. It's s perfect way for us to start over, dad answered and smiled at me
- What about Alexander? I asked
- I know that you're happy in your relationship with him, but this is our chance to get to know each other
- Why do you even want to move back?
- New York only reminds me of all the bad memories I have in my life. Those with your mum for example. I want to forget all that and start over
- I don't know, I answered
- You don't have to decide today, but can you at least think about it? Dad asked
- I will
We hugged each other goodbye and then I started walking back towards Alexander's college dorm. When I finally arrived back after about 20 minutes, the dorm stood empty so I understood that Alec still was in class. I took the opportunity and decided to take a quick shower and thereafter, I dressed in a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt. If I'm going to be honest, my mind was spinning like crazy. Did my father really want me to move with him to Indonesia? What would Alec say if I moved? I don't even know if I want to, but the feelings of guilt are already eating me from the inside - out. When Alexander finally returned back, I was laying sprawled our across the couch, watching TV.
- Hey baby, he said and laid carefully down beside me
- Hi, I answered and smiled
- How was your day today? Simon told me that he met you at the coffee shop
- He did and my day was actually pretty good. What about you? I asked
- Boring, as usual
- I'm sorry to hear that
- Don't worry, Alec answered
He pressed a light kiss on my lips and pulled me even closer to his body.
- My dad visited me down at the coffee shop today, I said after a while
- What did he want?
- He asked me to move back to Indonesia with him, I answered
- What?
I could feel how Alexander stiffened beside me and when I looked at him, he actually looked furious.
- Are you serious? Why the hell did he ask that? Wait, what did you answer? Alec asked angrily
- I answered that I needed to think about it, I said and sighed
- Think about if? Magnus, are you saying that you're thinking about leaving me?
- Alexander
- No, what the hell? I haven't gone through all of this so you later can leave me only because your idiotic father who hasn't been in your life for over ten years wants you do, Alec said and after that, he stood up from the couch
- Wait, are you mad? I asked
- What do you think? He asked and when I looked into his eyes, it was like staring into nothing
- I'm sorry, I whispered
- I have done so much for you, Magnus. I can't believe that you're actually thinking about moving to Indonesia with that douche instead of staying here with me. I was there for you when he wasn't, remember? I saved your life when he didn't even care enough to contact you, Alexander said
- Alec, please, I said and felt how my eyes started to get watery
- No, I can't do this right now, he answered and walked into his room
A couple of seconds later, I could hear how the door to his room closed and that's when I finally let go and let the tears stream down my cheeks.
