Chapter 3

The next morning, I wake up and walk downstairs.

"Good morning." My mum says.

"Hey." I say, tiredly.

"Were you awake all night writing your new song?" Mum asks.

"Yes." I admit.

"I wish you wouldn't." She says.

"I'm sorry. I just really need to get this finished." I say.

"Have breakfast then get ready for school." She says and I obey. I eat breakfast, then jog upstairs and have a shower. I get dressed into my school uniform and walk back downstairs with my school bag.

"Bye mum." I call and she runs up to me and gives me a hug.

"Bye." She says and I walk out of the house, in the direction of Celia's house, which is on the way to school. As I walk past her house she runs up to me.

"Hey." I say.

"Hey. How are you?" She asks.

"Very tired. I'm writing my next song. Luckily, I finished it last night." I say.

"Do I get to hear it?" She asks and I shake my head.

"Not yet!" I say and she sighs.

"Well, I can't wait." She says and I smile. A lot of people have said that to me and I'm still unsure what to say.

"Thank you?" I question.

"It's alright." She says. We walk through the front gates and the bell rings. My first class was Maths. But Celia had English. I slowly walk in and sit in the third row on the left. The lesson went very slow. The teacher rambled on about algebra while only the mathletes listened, a couple of people were throwing paper planes at each other and one suddenly landed on my desk. I opened up the note.

'Hey, cutie.' It said. I chuckled and looked over at a couple of girls giggling. Alright... I've never seen that before, even though a lot of girls call me that... like a lot.

"Now, Jai. What does 'x' equal?" The teacher asks and everyone stares at me.

"37." I confidently say.

"Very well done." He says. Oh, I got it right? The bell finally rung and I had to hurry to Geography on the other side of the school for period 2. The bell rings just as I get in the room and I quickly get to my desk in the teachers annoying seating plan.

The day flew past with girls talking to me all the time. Really. I couldn't even get away from fame at school. I liked fame. But it got annoying sometimes. Being always recognised got on my nerves. After school, I met up with Celia at the front gate and we walked home.

"Do you want to come over?" I ask.

"Um. Sure." She says and we walk back to my place.

"It's going to be really different living with my mother full time." She says as we walk up the stairs.

"How so?" I ask.

"I mean, when we broke up she was never home because she worked and now she's there 24/7. It's going to be so weird." She says and I nod.

"You're right. I wish I had a chance to know my Dad. I haven't seen him since I was like 3. I understand what you mean, talking to them would be..." I say and pause to think.

"Awkward." She says and I agree. We decide to make a cover together and then she goes home at 4pm. I began writing another song and surprisingly got half way through the lyrics and I started on the music. My mother called me down to dinner and we had a great night watching The Voice and some cheesy old movies.

"I'm gunna go to bed." I say and hug my mum. I walk drowsily up to my room and have a shower then go to bed. I was so tired and fell asleep easily.
