Chapter 5
The day of my audition and Jai still isn't home. Was Jai's mother lying to me? Or did Dean just kidnap him for longer than expected? I lay in bed all day. I had to be at the venue at 3pm. I had plenty of time. Maybe.
I check the time and curse as I see the time. 2:00. I had about 15 minutes before I had to leave. I curse to myself the whole time I get ready. I really need help with my language these days.
"Mum. Why didn't you wake me?" I say to my mother as I raid the kitchen pantry. We run to the car and drive off straight away. I felt horrible. I could possibly be late for my audition and Jai isn't here.
We get to the venue just in time and theres a long line up.
"When they said, You're audition is at 3pm. Don't be late, I don't think they meant it." I say and my mother laughs.
"We should have known better." She says. Yeah, whatever. The whole time, a guy is talking to me, trying at least.
"Hey. You're that Wai Jaetford guy's girlfriend, right?" Another guy behind me asks. Okay, time to be completely ridiculous for saying Jai's name wrong.
"Yeah, I am actually. Only because he talks to his stuffed animals." I say, put on a fake smile and walk away into the building because it is my audition time. I shouldn't have said that. I've got to say it was funny, yet the most idiotic thing I have ever said.
A lady gives me a microphone and puts sound equipment on me so I can hear myself sing. I walk on the stage to the middle. I hear my mother call my name from side stage and see Jai with my brother. He's here!
"Hello. Uh.. What's your name?" Ronan Keating asks.
"Hi. I'm Celia Vidgen. I'm 14 turning 15 and I'm from Campbelltown." I say and all the judges smile and Danni Minogue's jaw drops open.
"Wait! Aren't you Jack Vidgen's sister and Jai Waetford's girlfriend?" She asks.
"Yes." I laugh while nodding.
"Wow. Awesome. So, what are you going to be singing today?" Red Foo says and I laugh.
"If This Was A Movie by Taylor Swift." I say and Ronan nods. I look over at the sound guy, motioning for him to start the music and my intro starts.
Last night I heard my own heart beating

I sing and the audience claps and the judges stand up and clap as I finish the song. Wow.
"Well, Celia. That was amazing. I can't believe your only 15. Well done!" Ronan says. The other judges make similar statements then they ask a few more questions.
"So, is Jai and Jack here today?" Danni asks.
"Yes. They are." I say and look at them with a smile.
"I wouldn't mind seeing Jai again. Can they both come on stage?" Ronan says and the boys, leaving my mother behind, both walk confidently on stage. Ronan walks up to Jai and gives him a hug.
"You girlfriend is through to the next stage we'll have to catch up!" Ronan says to Jai.
"Definitely." He says. I haven't heard his voice in a very long time.
"Well, Celia you were amazing. Bye guys!" Ronan says and we all exit the stage. I give the microphone and sound equipment and we leave. The moment we are in the foyer, I give Jai a big hug.
"I missed you." I say as I still hug him.
"Me too." He says and looks me in the eyes.
"How'd you get here?" I ask, directing it at not only Jai, but also Jack.
"Well, I got home earlier and went to your place. but you weren't there and I realised you must have your audition today. I was walking down your drive way when Jack park outside of your house. Anyways, Mum drove us. She wasn't allowed into the audition, don't ask why, so she stated in the foyer." Jai explains.
"Wow. You actually said that long explanation for no reason." I say.
"I know." Jai says and we laugh as we walk over his mum.
"Hey, Alana." I say and she gives me a hug.
"So, proud of you. Congratulations." She says.
"Thank you." I say with a smile and Jack finally says something to me.
"Hey. Congrats lil' sis. Can't believe you made it through." He says.
"Are you actually saying something nice to me, Jack?" I ask and he shrugs. Everyone laughs and I give him a hug.
