Chapter 2: Time has a way of testing our bonds

"We'll be back miss Faragonda, you'll see. And we promise, we will stop Politea for good this time!" said Bloom.

"I know you will.........now go!" said Faragonda as she struggled to maintain the portal to Oblivion with Griselda.

Nodding, Bloom and the winx quickly went through the portal and it soon closed the moment the six of them passed through it.

"Hah.......hah....................that was exhausting" said Griselda.

"Agreed..........you can come out now James, they're gone" said Faragonda.

Coming out from the curtains behind the headmistress, James could only stare at the area where the portal used to exist.

"Just like that portal.........I'm not that different from it, it comes and goes depending on how long you want it there" said James.

"........Griselda, could you leave us for a while?" asked Faragonda.

Nodding, although she never understood why the headmistress had taken a sudden liking to this man, she followed her order and left the two of them alone.

"I wish I could have sent you with them but......you know why" said Faragonda.

"I know..........I just feel so useless" said James.

"That's not true, you saved us all. That hardly counts as useless in my book" said Faragonda.

"Well I am useless now because I have discovered something else!" said James.

"W.....what is it?" asked Faragonda.

"I.............have lost my powers" said James.

"Your what?!" asked Faragonda.

"Not everything but..........what I mean is that........I've lost my transformations, even the first form is gone. In addition, since enchantix was created without me........in Tecna's words.....I've lost all admin rights to it. I can't control it freely anymore or alter it and its the same with sirenix. Since it wasn't born from within me, it feels........significantly different. Born from out of something else.......I don't know what though. I've really lost everything headmistress, from what I love most.....to my friends and to my family" said James.

"But you had your enchantix when you were still trapped in that crystal world" said Faragonda.

"......People don't really understand time, its not what you think it is. It can change from a flowing river to a huge mass of events that are destined to either happen or pass. Time has caught up with me, rewriting everything that has happened without me in this world" said James sadly.

"..........I'm so sorry" said Faragonda.

"I have more bad news, within the next lunar cycle..........I'll be gone" said James.

"What?! W...what do you mean?!" asked Faragonda as she got up from her seat.

"It took me longer than usual to realize it but that crystal was the thing that was keeping me alive for billions of years, it blocked the flow of time to allow me to exist when I shouldn't have. As I said, time has caught up with me....which means that reality will start to kick in. Because my parents never had me, it means that I was never born and so I will fade out of existence. Its already happening.........my life is being wiped out, I can't even remember if I ever had a tenth birthday" said James.

"But there........must something, I'll comb through even the forbidden archives!" said Faragonda.

"Its too late, there's nothing anyone can do. That's also why it took me longer than usual to figure out my situation, my intelligence and memories are fading fast. All the years I've spent studying various things are being wiped clean from my head, once I forget everything........that's when I disappear. I've tried remembering important things but I can't, I really can't! I can't look at anything or see things the same way ever again, I'm now a ticking time bomb just waiting to.......to....." said James.
