제20장:

"If the world ended tonight.... What would you do?" Hoseok asked, taking another sip from his CASS beer can.

"I would tell my family what they meant to me before it ended." I shrugged.

"Even your mom?" Jin asked.

I frowned, "Of course, I said family, Jin."

"Hm." He huffed, gulping his alcohol.

"Well.. I would loot all the music and clothing stores." Hoseok sighed in satisfaction.

"What about your friends?" I asked.

"I would hug them before I went to go loot."

"Very smart." I chuckled, bringing my cold beer can to my lips.

"I'm just kidding, I'd want to spend the last hours with my best friends and family."

"That's sweet of you." I nodded and took out my phone, checking the time.

"It's 7:38pm, Jin should we go?" Jin looked over at me plainly then sighed, nodding.

"Yay~ Okay, let's go!" I got up and ran my fingers through Hoseok's brown hair, then messing it up playfully.

Hoseok gave me a wide-eyed look with his lips parted into an 'O'.

"Woh- Hyung, she's really happy..." Hoseok teased me, exclaiming to Jin whom was just standing tall with his hands in his pockets.

"..Yeah... Let's get going, Iyagi."

I nodded and followed Jin's figure out of the studio. Our walk to the car was quiet, only our feet being heard and the soft breathing from our air-holes. The car ride was even worse, just the sound of the motor was heard, and the leather stretching as we adjusted in our car seats.

"Iyagi..." I flinched at Jin's voice, it was so sudden and raspy.

My excitement was raising as Jin and I approached my mother's house again. I've only been talking to her for about 2 weeks now, nearing to 3 weeks.

She's amazing! She's funny, caring, growing to know me better, and always tends to keep conversations up. I love my mom, she's changed completely and would never do a thing to hurt me. Anytime we end up nearing a conversation related to the pass, she stops it instantly, the look of regret and pain in her face.

"What is it?" I asked, noticing a familiar street we were turning to.

"..Did your mother abuse you?" He asked.

I looked over at him and blinked, "She did."

Of course she did, but the important thing is, she's changed. It's the old mom I once knew, the one I still love.

"Did you perhaps go to the Elementary school in Gyeonggi-do?" He muttered quietly.

"I did, yes."

"Jin-Oppa, can this wait?" I sighed, the car on the same street as my mom's house.

Jin stared at me, turning back to look at the road every few seconds.

"..It is you. Isn't it?" He bit into his lower lip as he began to drive slower, approaching the house at an aggravating speed.

"What??" I grew impatient, tempted to open the car door right here.

"You're the little girl that was crying in the library... That was you, wasn't it?"

My heart stopped, my cheeks were growing warm, and my mind was twisted in confuse. It was him? He was the boy who told the police about my mom? He's the reason she went to prison for 10 years?

"Jesus, I knew your family name was familiar..." He hit his steering wheel in frustration, "Iyagi-"

"Do you know what you did??" I snapped.

He pulled the car over in front of her house, parking but not unlocking.

"You're a fucking asshole! Even if you were a child, I hate you for what you did!"

"Iyagi-ah, what I did was the right thing. Can't you see that??"

"I missed her!" I scoffed, "Do you have any idea what it's like to live without your mother?! The woman who cared and loved for you, years and years??!"

"You mean the woman who beat you unconscious?"

My hand raised, I held myself from smacking him dead across the face, knowing it would difficult this even more, "Don't you dare."

I locked him into a death glare, unbuckling my seat belt and exiting the vehicle.

"I don't expect you to contact me again, Iyagi. I'm sorry for doing the correct thing years ago, but if you believe she's a good person, you're as crazy as she is."

Jin raised the car window, driving off after sending me a confusing look. Was he disappointed or worried?

My feet turned, directing me to my mother's house as I began walking towards it after. A knock at the door sent her walking my direction. The door opened, revealing my youthful-looking mom, smiling brightly.

"Hi, mom." I smiled.

"Hello dear." She wrapped her arms around me lightly, welcoming me into the house.

"Want some tea and little rice cakes I made?"

"Sure." I nodded, taking off my shoes and going for the living room.

I sat down on her couch, admiring the bright room. Her furniture wasn't expensive but it looked very cute and home-ie.

Ten minutes later, my mom entered the living room with a food tray of our snacks. She set the tray down on the stubby table in front of us and sat down across from me.

"After we finish our treats, I'd like to discuss something with you, dear."

"Oh? Of course, sure." I nodded instantly.

"Good. You're so sweet." The corners of her lips curved upwards in approval.

I love her smile, she's so wonderful.
