33. A Glimpse into the Mind of Yours Truly

On the outside, I refuse
to ever show weakness.
I stand with my head held proud-
To be who I am
And not give a damn
About what society allowed.

If I know it's right
It won't matter
When people tell me that I'm wrong.
If I really want to make
a true difference,
Then I have to stop trying to belong.

I have to be myself and accept me
For who I am and will always be.
I have to do my best
to try not to let
others take power from me.

I want to find someone who loves me;
The one who can make my heart smile
Even if it takes longer than I expect,
I promise to wait for a while.

Because the world hasn't yet
grasped the idea
That love's just a one time thing.
And though some teenagers
seem to think otherwise,

Real love's something
only one can bring.

Hiding behind walls of destruction
But secretly use my free card
To sneak from the grave
I dug up myself,
And escape from the cold, metal bars.

I believe in people and goodness.
I stand on the side of what's right.
And though I know
it's going out of style,
I still say my prayers every night.

I don't do the right thing all the time,
Sometimes I can't help but cheat,
And I know it's wrong,
So I try to stay strong
the other six days of the week.

If I always stay true
to intents then I know
the damage of my mistakes,
Will be small and inconsequential.
I promise to never be fake.

Because I trust in what I believe,
No matter the blows I'm dealt,
I'll never give in
to the pressure of others
To make them feel how I once felt.

This is a glimpse into my mind. There's not much rhyme or reason to my thoughts here but it's real. This is truly how I think and these are the words written across my heart(metaphorically anyway, don't think anyone actually has words on their heart, ayeee).
