Fight or Flight
. . . . . . . . . . . . . .Stand up for yourself
While risking chance of danger
Fighting for the lives of loved ones
Or even a perfect stranger.
Though fear and cowardice
might stop some
The brave stand their ground,
though some think its dumb.
Fore honesty and love
take courage and strength,
And the journeys so short
or so very long in length
Are difficult no matter what.
Bravery is a feeling
in the center of your gut.
You can be born with the gene
Or earn it.
Some waste the greatness
And burn it,
By doing nothing;
Walking away,
Thinking there'll always
be another day,
To change the facts.
Some never look back.
But I see what you do and have done.
Freedom is a right yet needs be won
And I'm glad youre here to save us.
Perhaps people don't care,
Or they're just not aware
Or they can't understand what it is.
Oh, that rush of joy;
that wondrous feeling
Of letting go and hitting the ceiling.
No longer wondering what life is like
on the other side. They know.
Faces lit in a happy glow.
But the honorable know
the truth and use it,
Afraid but still
they're braving through it.
They are the ones who are heroes.
Look up to them and cheer,
For these are the people who make it
So that we don't have to fear.
DEDICATED TO EVERY SOLDIER IN THE UNITED STATES MILITARY, THANK YOU FOR PROTECTING ME AND MAKING IT SO THAT I AND MY LOVED ONES DON'T HAVE TO FEAR. I appreciate you more than any crappy little poem can show, truly.
