Chapter 6
I looked up, expecting worse than what I found my eyes resting upon. Be prepared, the words made have some realization yet they still didn't have full clarity in the situation. There was someone on the floor violently thrashing.
I stood confused. My vision was slightly blurred so looking a the kid, I thought a fight broke out. That was when I realized who the person was and what was happens. I saw the face of a girl who I felt pity for. She grew up with a horrible life. She was seizing on the floor, fidgeting helplessly. Jessica.
Look inside her mind, I said to Xander. From the distance I could see her gray pupils roll backwards and the color leave her skin. Frothing at the mouth, everyone around was screaming. Lillian stood in the corner. She was blank.
"Look!" I screamed not realizing that I was yelling aloud. My mind was shot with a sharp pain as I tumbled to the ground. My body was locked in excruciating pain. My lungs felt like they had collapsed entirely and I thought that I would just curl up and die. It carried on and I wailed in pain. Begging silently for him to release the pain center of my mind. Tears streamed down my face.
I felt a hand on my back, a small hand. It was Rickey. He was speaking but everything was muffled from the pain and ringing in my ears. Then the world became a black mass. My eyes closed.
Now the world was clear but frozen. The situation was still. No movement. No noise. Nothing.
Nothing.
I sat thinking for a moment when Rickey appeared in front of me. "Be prepared. Katrina, Xander did what you wanted. Help her now." He said straight faced. My eyes widened. This wasn't a dream, I thought, this was inside my mind. I was inside my brain doing this. "I don't know how to help her!" I yelled, tears forming in my green eyes.
"What is happening?" He said looking down on me. I was sitting on my knees. "She is convulsing." I said, now surprisingly calm. "Which means?" He asked. "I don't have time to answer stupid questions! I need to help her." My heart rate picked up. Pure terror filled me. What if she died because I couldn't help her.
He snapped to catch my attention," You are in a Mind Factor. Time is frozen. Answer the question." Rickey's voice got stern and serious.
"A seizure is the physical findings or changes in behavior that occur after an episode of abnormal electrical activity in the brain. The term "seizure" is often used interchangeably with "convulsion." Convulsions are when a person's body shakes rapidly and uncontrollably." I said.
"What are the nurses doing wrong?" He said. I froze. I tried to talk to Xander but each time I tried it was like I was pushed out. I couldn't ask my source of information.
"They have her on her side." Rickey said. "You are supposed to put a seizuring person on their side!" I yelled. I stopped and then realized."Unless they are effects of an Aneurism. That's it. Her mind has been stressed from headaches; I feel it when Xander reads her mind. History of vomiting, explaining the thinness of her body. It all makes sense. She has an undiagnosed Aneurism!"
"What do you do?" Rickey asked. I searched in my head for an answer. Then it came to me. "Put her on her stomach. If she vomits I will go strait under her; William Feetham invented a shower for a reason. I need to get Dr. Secil to get her an MRI. It will expose the near bursting Aneurism in enough time for operation."
Rickey flashed an approving smile."I'm ready." I said to him. The last thing I saw in the process of the Mind Factor was Rickey winking and mouthing good luck. The world went black.
My eyes opened. I stood up and summoned Rickey with my hand. We both broke into a dead sprint. I pushed and shoved into the crowd of people surrounding Jessica.
