REAL LIFE
❛ SOMETHING YOU MAY
NEVER SEE AGAIN ❜If it wasn't for the sickly feeling Athena felt in her stomach, it would have been a good day. The sky was a bright, fluorescent blue and the grass shone greener in her own garden for once. Everything was going to plan; everything but something.
Riding down the hillside and into the bustling town beneath the trees, Princess Juno and Lord Peridan accompanied her on either side — like emotional support or somebody to share the beautiful day with. The Princess smiled dearly at the sight of Athena's blissful happiness, noticing as they wove through the lines of citizens that they weren't, in fact, glancing with admiration to the royal in the group but rather the noble in the centre. Her horse was fidgety, however; she was kicking herself as she chose the most energetic of the bunch — a creature she couldn't quite handle in a quiet stroll through the village.
Lord Peridan, as usual, hung quietly behind the two Ladies. Athena swore she saw his deep blue eyes widen every time his gaze landed on Juno, but she carelessly brushed it aside. He had always been a quiet man. Why ever should Athena barge in on his private business? Despite the possible privacy invasion that could occur, she made herself note the action mentally, just in case she ever saw Juno's eyes do the same to his appearance.
As the three rode slower, reaching the midpoint of their journey through the village before returning to Cair Paravel, Athena peered over to a sign hanging by the end of a house. An idea jumped into her head seconds after.
"Did Edmund say he wants that red and blue chessboard for his birthday?" Athena asked, turning her head to Juno and Peridan to see if they held the answer.
Juno hummed, "Possibly. I do remember him bringing it up one luncheon last week or so. It could have been red and blue. . . Perhaps it was red and gold. . . ?"
"I've got the funniest feeling that he's already got a red and gold one!" Peridan added. "It was either red and blue or red and green."
"Oh, I never pay attention to him anyways," Athena continued, huffing ever so slightly at the specific item her best friend asked for. "Maybe I should call Peter? He must know."
"If none of us know, he's the most likely to," the Princess said. She leant forward on her horse to peer over towards Athena as she fiddled around in her pocket to search for her phone. Moments later, as Juno paused to blink and shared a quick glance with Peridan, the Lady had retrieved her phone and began to tap around on its screen quickly in order to call her fiancé.
Seconds into the call, the line found itself silent, humming lost in the air and pinging a confusion onto Athena's face soon after.
