KING, FATHER, LEADER
AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH HIGH KING PETER

Earlier this month, weeks after the announcement that High Queen Athena was with child, we interviewed High King Peter to gain his perspective on everything he hopes fatherhood and the future will turn out to be. . .

Q:  Thank you for spending your time with us today, Your Majesty. Firstly, we've got to know, does it feel like the last few months have whizzed past since we all found out?

P: I suppose you could call it all surreal. Of course, preparing for something as big as the birth of the next monarch is stressful and time-consuming, but — if I have to be honest — I am loving every moment of it.

Q: Do you have any preferences for the future? Have you planned anything in particular?

P: Planned anything? No. . . That's certainly not the approach to family life Athena and I are thinking of taking. We have everyone else to help us, Edmund and Juliet, so we're going to take each day as it comes. (He laughs) Whatever being a father means, whatever being a King and a father means, I'm going to just face it. If that makes any sense? Try and live up to the whole 'magnificent' I've been so named by diving into it all head first, I guess.

Q: How does Her Serene Highness feel about the pregnancy, especially as it will be a royal birth?

P: She's dealing with it the best she possibly can due to her almost being thrust into the limelight and etcetera. I can't say I have any experience being seven months with child so I can't personally judge how well she is coping, but she's extremely happy and that's what matters. What I can relate to is the situation of her being the talking point for nearly everything and we've struggled through that together. Privacy is a big thing  — and I don't want her or the child getting stressed out — so we're keeping everything to a minimum.

Q: Anything else you wish to add on the matter?

P: Only that I thank each and every one of you for supporting us through this. I know it's difficult to support or even imagine an unborn child, but, from a personal level, and from my heart, it really does mean a lot to me, High Queen Athena, and the rest of us at Cair Paravel. I know what we've said and committed ourselves too has been challenged and critiqued in the past, but . . . thank you, really.

What do you make of the High King's answers? And are you looking forward to the royal birth? Let us know!
