Caspar POV

"You told him you needed English tutoring?" She paced endlessly around my room. A week had passed. She was still freaking out.

"...yeah." I was sat on my bed, my face buried in my pillow.

"Your dad's an English teacher. English is your best subject."

"I panicked, Ari. I couldn't think properly." I flopped onto my side.

"Okay, but, you're going to run into some issues once he realizes that you need no help whatsoever."

"Hopefully, by that time, I'll have the courage built up to ask him."

"Cass...You can't expect-."

"Ari, I know. Just, I'm trying to be optimistic."

She kissed my forehead. "I know, sweetie. How about you have him tutor you tomorrow? It is Friday. Then, once you're done, you can...see what happens."

"I mean, I guess."

"What happened to being optimistic?"

"Right. You're right. I'll text him."

Caspar: Hey. Are you free for tutoring tomorrow night?

Teddy: Yeah, I think so. Where do you want to meet up?

Caspar: You can just come to mine, if that's okay.

Teddy: Sounds good. See you at school tomorrow, then. Unless there's anything else?

I froze, my fingers hovering over the keypad. I could end it now. I could just ask him now and stop this churning in my stomach.

Caspar: Nothing I can think of. See you then.

"Hey, Ariana," Dad peeked his head through the door. "Your mom just texted and said she needs you home."

"Okay," she sighed, jumping up and kissing my cheek before she left.

"Dinner should be ready, soon, Caspar."

"Okay. Thanks, Dad. By the way, Teddy is coming to tutor me tomorrow night."

"Teddy Martin? The new kid? In what?"

My words were unintelligible. I repeated myself upon request. "English."

"I'm an English teacher."

"I don't mind."

"He knows I'm an English teacher."

"I made up a rule that you couldn't tutor me."

"Be careful, Caspar. He's a good kid."

"I'm not going to hurt him."

"You'd better not," he smiled lightly, but I could see a protective glint in his eyes. "Come on downstairs, then."

"Okay."
