Talk me down- Troye Sivan

My mom called and said that I had to be home for dinner, so by 5:30, I was on my boyfriend's porch, wrapped in his arms while he refused to let me leave.

"I'll call you tonight, Caspar," I chuckled. "I really have to go."

"I know." He lifted my chin and kissed me before I left. When I got home, Mother and Father were sitting at the table. I knew this setup. Their rigid postures and fake smiles. I was about to set over to them when something caught my attention. Three other figures on the couch in the lounge, the middle small and blonde and on her phone.

"April?" My head tilted in confusion. It had been several weeks since we met and we were quickly becoming close.

"Babe!" She glared at me through her smile, commanding me to play along. She walked over and kissed my cheek, securing my arm around her waist. Her mouth moved to my ear so our parents couldn't hear. "You need to go call Cassie. This is bad. Get him over here."

"April...I can't."

"You have two options. Either you bring him here or they give me that pretty little engagement ring sitting on the coffee table."

"Go call him, April. I'll try to get us out of this."

She pretended to get a little too handsy so she could get my phone from my pocket, and disappeared.

"Mother, Father," I put on my most innocent tone. "What's going on?"

"This is Mr. and Mrs. Harrison. Your girlfriend's parents. We've been talking and we think that this paring is highly beneficial to both families and the church. We want you to marry her."

"I don't want to marry April."

"Isn't she beautiful? And smart? And kind?"

"Yes, of course. But don't you think this is a little...fast?"

"Nonsense, Theodore. We're getting you into next semester at the Preacher School and you'll get married once you graduate."

April came back and nodded, tossing me my phone.

"Thanks, man," I hugged her.

"It'll be okay, Teddy. You know that you're always welcome to stay with Cassie."

I smirked at her, but successfully hid it from my parents.

"Who's Cassie?" Mother asked. "Is this another girl? What's going on?"

My parents were ready to interrogate me. I didn't want to say anything to them. I just wanted my boyfriend to hurry up and take me home.

"You're sure about this, right, Teddy?" April asked from her place against my chest.

"Yeah. I don't care anymore. I just...need Cass here."

"You should at least say something to them."

"Fine," I pulled away from her and turned towards my parents. "I'm not marrying April."

"Why not?" My Mother shrieked. Father had yet to speak.

"I want to be with Cassie. And I know you won't approve, but you're just going to have to deal with it."

"Is she not a member of the church?"

"No. No church."

"We can fix that."

"I really doubt it."

There was a knock at the door. I stepped over and let my boyfriend in.
