On Your Side- The Veronicas

"So, essay assignment. Fun, right? Ah, you kids love me." I rolled my eyes at Chris- I mean, Mr. Donovan. "Two pages. You know the setup by now. Write about whatever you want just...nothing I'll get fired for." The bell rang. He sighed. "Due by the end of the week. Teddy, what are you making for dinner tonight?"

"We're going out, remember? For April's birthday?"

"Oh, right. I forgot. I'll be home by 5. Okay?"

"Yeah. See you at home, Chris."

I left the room, two guys trailing behind me. I ignored them best I could. I found it strange that people in that class still didn't know about Cass and I. Did they just miraculously not see our interactions every time he came to visit me in class?

"So, Martin, you live with Donovan? You banging him now?" One of them leered over my shoulder. I scoffed.

"No, don't be ridiculous," I turned towards the stairs to my next class and they followed me. I smirked. "I'm banging his son."

They stopped in their tracks, then, and I went on to class. Of course, Cass and I hadn't done anything yet, but I couldn't resist causing the dumbfounded expressions on their faces. I just hoped that my remark wouldn't cause any problems. At lunch, Cass kissed me upon his arrival without any hesitation. We didn't have the same lunch period, but, to my dismay, once a week he'd skip class to have lunch with me.

"You need to be in class." I told him, yet was entirely comfortable and refusing to move as I sat in his lap on the lunchroom floor.

"They don't even notice that I'm gone." I glared at him over my shoulder. "Seriously, babe, it's okay. What're we doing for April tonight?"

"Dinner at the diner down the street, drive-in, and a visit from Fauna."

Fauna was April's little sister, who she hadn't seen since she started living with us.

"Does that mean that we have to tone down the gay for Fauna?"

"Yes. And even if Fauna was growing up in a different family, we still shouldn't be sucking face in front of a six-year-old."

"Can I at least hold your hand?" He kissed the nape of my neck. I wanted to say no, you know, for the sake of the children, but I couldn't.

"Fine. You can hold my hand. Under the table. Fine?"

"Oh, I can do a lot of things to you under the table," he smirked, his breath fanning against my ear.

"No, Cass. Especially not tonight."

"But I've been so good, Teddy," he whined.

"Nope. You'll just have to keep waiting."

He grinned and kissed the shell of my ear. "I'll wait as long as you need me to."

I wanted to say yes to him. Of course I did. I wasn't blind. My boyfriend was extremely attractive. But there was no way I was ready to do anything. I probably wouldn't be for a long time.

"You're thinking again. Stop that," he tightened his grip on my waist.

I laughed. "I'm not allowed to think?"

"Not when it makes you upset," his tone became loving and sincere and I would've kissed him right there if there weren't so many people around. My phone started ringing, and, assuming it was Ari, I took it out of my pocket. I checked the Caller ID.

It was Jackson.
