My eyes darted away.

"Hey, I don't judge. As long as he's cute. You got pictures?"

I unlocked my phone and showed a picture of the two of us, with me kissing the side of his head.

"Caspar Donovan, huh?"

"Do you know him?"

"He's my cousin. We don't interact much."

"Why not?"

"Family differences. He and his dad are kind of shunned for not being in the church. I really couldn't care less."

"You won't tell anyone, will you? It's just, you know my parents and-."

"Hey. Don't worry. I'm a vault, Theodore."

"I go by Teddy, actually."

"April Harrison," she extended her hand and I shook it. "Your new best friend and on-call fake girlfriend."

"Thanks."

"Ooh, I want to freak Cassie out. Can I text him and make it seem like I'm going to expose you?"

I couldn't help but laugh. "Just don't freak him out too much. I don't need him having a panic attack when I'm not there."

She grinned and pulled out her phone, typing a bit before looking to me. It was barely thirty seconds before my phone started ringing.

"What's up? I'm kind of busy."

"Listen. Have you seen a blonde girl with blue eyes?"

"Blonde girl. Blue eyes." She laughed and I shushed her. "Yeah. Why?"

"She's my cousin. I think she's on to us. I need to come pick you up. I don't know what will happen if she-."

"Hey, chill. I've met April. She's chill. She knows and she's not going to say anything."

The line went silent for a minute. "You almost gave me a freaking heart attack, baby. You can't do that."

"Hey, it was her idea. Cassie."

"I've never wanted to simultaneously kiss and punch someone the way I want to simultaneously kiss and punch you. You jerk. I thought we were done for."

"Aww, I'm sorry, baby. I have all day tomorrow to make it up to you."

"I'm expecting great things, Martin. I'm talking you bringing me coffee in the morning. A massage. Maybe a lap dance. Some food."

"I can do coffee, food, and cuddles."

"Deal. See you tomorrow."

I ended the call and put my phone in my pocket, turning back to April.

"So, my beautiful future bride," I had to hold in a laugh. "May I have your phone number?"

"Oh, Teddy," she smirked. "I thought you'd never ask."
