Caspar POV

I woke up in the dead of night. 3:17 AM. Sunday morning. I had no clue why. Everything was peaceful. Nothing seemed remotely wrong. Until I reached over.

"Teddy?" I called into the darkness, careful to keep my voice down so I didn't wake anyone else. Ari and April were in rooms just down the hall. Dad was downstairs. I sat up. He was nowhere in the room. I had no clue where he'd be. Downstairs? Maybe he got hungry. I left my room, checking in on April and Ari. They were both fast asleep, with, what I assumed, was no knowledge to the whereabouts of my boyfriend. I stopped near the top of the stairs. The bathroom light was on. He was just in the bathroom. I turned to head back. A quiet sob echoed through the hall from the bathroom, and I lightly knocked on the door. It was unlocked. I gently pushed it open. He was curled up against the wall, most of his clothing discarded, muttering to himself through tears.

"Teddy?" I tried again, assuming he'd hear me from
Five feet away. He didn't. I crouched beside him, resting a hand on his shoulder. His head shot up.

"C-Caspar?" His eyes were so hopeful.

"What's wrong, baby?"

"I don't want to go. They hate me there. I can't. Please don't make me. I can't go, Cass, I can't go," he started crying again.

"Baby, what are you talking about?" I tried to think. I tried to think of anything, something to tell me what he was on about. Oh. It was Sunday. He was so used to being forced into that church every week that in his tired state, he couldn't remember that he had a choice now. "Teddy, you don't have to go. No one's going to make you. You have a choice. You're safe here."

He collapsed against me and wept. I made a decision, right there. If I ever saw his family again, I would kill them. I gathered him in my arms and carried him to our room, putting him back in bed and letting him curl against me as he tried to fall back to sleep. I wiped his tears away as they came. They didn't stop for a while.

"I love you, Cass." He mumbled it, whispered it, as if it wouldn't mean as much if anyone else heard it. I, on the other hand, wanted everyone to hear it. I wanted everyone to know that this boy was mine, and that no one would ever hurt either one of us again.

"I love you too, Teddy."
