Seven Sticks of Dynamite- AWOLNATION

Cass POV

The crying coming from the bedroom was unmistakeable. Teddy. I knew what was going on before I even got to him. It was the day we were supposed to send in all the evidence against his dad. It was clear that he had mixed feelings about the situation.

"We don't have to do it, Teddy," I closed the door behind me. He looked up, and my heart broke at the tear streaks staining his cheeks. He rose from his seat on the edge of the bed and collapsed into my arms, his tears quickly soaking through my shirt. I took his wrists and led him back to sit, crouching in front of him so that we were even. Cupping his face in my hands, I wiped the tears from his face as I spoke. "We can just let it go. We don't have to take it in."

"Don't...don't you want him to pay? For what he did to us? To...to Grey?" He still flinched when he said his name.

"I do. But it's okay if you don't. I understand."

"You know that...his...case will come back up during this, right? He'll go to jail."

"I won't press charges. I've forgiven him."

"I haven't." He kissed my palm.

"I know, baby. Whatever you decide to do with your dad, I'll support you. Okay?"

He sat, quiet for a minute. "I'm gonna do it. He deserves it."

"Okay. We'll do it later today, then?"

"Okay."

"I'm so proud of you, Teddy." I leaned forward and pecked his lips. "I love you."

He pulled me back into the kiss, falling back onto the bed with me on top of him. His arms moved around my waist, never straying any lower, and I had a hand on either side of his head. He flipped us over so he was on top and laid down on my chest. He was asleep before I knew it. I ran a hand through his hair until he relaxed entirely. The door creaked open and Ari snuck in.

"Hey," I whispered, grinning into my boyfriend's hair.

"How's he doing?"

"Okay. When should we tell him?"

"He doesn't need to know that we broke up, does he? It'll just make him sad. April and I are still friends. We're not going anywhere."

"I know that, but I don't know if he will. We can wait until this stuff with his family blows over a little, but he should know."

She came over and kissed my forehead. "We're all downstairs. Come join if you want."

"I will. I'll let him sleep."

She left the room and closed the door behind her.

"I want to come with you." He whispered.

"How long have you been awake?" I rolled my eyes.

"I already knew about Ari and April."

I kissed the top of his head, tossing him over my shoulder, laughing, and carrying him downstairs.
