I sat in the passenger seat of Billy Hargroves car, it was late at night, and we drove down the long roads of Hawkins, Indiana.
We were blaring music from the stereo.
Of course he was speeding. He continued to gain speed as we drove. I saw something ahead in the road. It was tall, and stood creepily in the center of the road.
"Billy? What is that thing?" I asked.
"Don't know, don't care." He replied, continuing to speed.
The thing came closer, as we neared it. I screamed, and Billy did too.
The front of the car made contact with it, and it fell. Billy stopped the car. I breathed hard.
"I'm gonna go see what that was." He said, unbuckling his seatbelt. I grabbed his hand, and looked up at me.
"No, don't leave the car. Don't leave me." I replied. He looked at me strangely.
There was a bang in the windshield, we looked up. It was a huge creature, it growled and it's face expanded, much like a tulip.
Billy yelled, and drove, and fast as he could. I looked behind us to see if that thing was following us.
Billy didn't stop driving until we reached the parking lot of the arcade.
I let out air I didn't know I was holding, and wiped tears of shock off my face.
I turned to Billy, watching his chest rise and fall as he breathed heavily.
He turned to me, and pulled me into a hug, and it surprised me.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." He said into my shoulder.
"It's okay Billy, I forgive you." I breathed.
He pulled his head away from my shoulder and pecked me on the lips.
"You're staying with me tonight." He said, starting the car again, and he drive out of the parking lot towards his house.
