New Years Kiss-Will Byers

It was New Years Eve, technically an hour before the actual new year, and Mattie was nervous. It seemed everyone had someone of the opposite sex to talk to. Mike and El, Lucas and Hannah, Dustin and Max(sorrynotsorry), Steve was talking to Lily but they weren't a thing, and Nancy was talking to Jonathan.
Mattie could hear Lily repeatedly call Steve "mom." And the others chatter away about what they were excited about in the upcoming year.
Will Byers stood across the room, his feeling similar to Mattie's. He searched the room, until his eyes landed on her, sitting alone, on the couch. She looked awfully lonely, and Will was sure she didn't want to be alone.
Will made his way across, and saw as her head lifted up as she saw him approach her.
She smiled, and he noticed how cute her braces were. (BRACES ARE CUTE, DONT @ ME)
"Hey." Will said, as he plopped down on the couch next to her.
"Hi." Mattie replied shyly, tucking a long strand of her hair behind her ear.
"You excited for the new year?" Will asked her.
"I dunno, maybe? Every year is the same to me, boring and loveless." Will was genuinely surprised at how bummed she was, and he understood what she felt.
"20 SECONDS UNTIL THE NEW YEAR!" Steve shouted, gathering his excited children. (BAHAHA. I crack myself up.)
Will and Mattie watched as everyone prepared for a New Years kiss. Mattie longed to be kissed at the break of midnight. Will saw his chance.
"5, 4, 3, 2, HAPPY NEW YEAR!" Everyone leaned in for a kiss. Just as Mattie turned back to Will, and everything went in slow motion. WILL leaned in, capturing her lips in one swift movement.
Mattie's eyes widened, and even her glasses made her vision go blurry.
Will pulled away, "Happy New year." He whispered in her ear.
