CHAPTER 37

*Alison's POV*

Me, Jake, the Cullens, and the pack were all gathered around in the living room at the Cullens' house.

"So, what seems to be the problem?" Carlisle asked.

"Well, when I was with Ali at her house, I smelled the scent of a vampire in her room," Jake explained.

"The scent was so strong I was able to smell it from outside," Rosalie added. It was probably that red-headed vampire. Wait, does she even exist? I mean she's always making an appearance in my dreams and I swear I saw her that time at the cliffs. Edward's eyes snapped toward mine with confusion swarming in them.

"You know Victoria?" he questioned.

"Is that what her name is? I've been having nightmares about her lately. It's honestly starting to bug me. I even saw her down at cliffs when," I confessed, but abruptly stopped when I felt Jake tense next to me. I grabbed onto his hand in an attempt to calm him and I knew it worked when his body automatically relaxed. 

"That explains it," Edward murmured, but I was able to hear him.

"Explains what?" I asked.

"As you already know, there are vampires out there that have their own power. Hers happens to be the power of dream manipulation, meaning she has the ability to enter other people's dreams to try to manipulate someone. It's kind of like an alternate way of controlling someone's mind. She's putting thoughts into your head," Edward explained, making my face pale.

"Does this mean the vampire could be after Ali?" Seth piped in.

"It's possible," Jasper murmured to himself, making Seth frown.

"Wait, why is she entering my dreams though? I didn't do anything to her. I've never even met her officially and she's already freaking me out," I shuddered. Jake wrapped a comforting arm around my shoulder.

"It turns out she had a mate, James, who was in the area and causing danger to humans, so we killed him. Victoria was angered by this, so she's seeking revenge for us killing her mate by coming after you since you're Jake's mate," Alice explained.

"Oh hell no. There's no way a leech is going to lay a single finger on Ali," Jake growled and protectively wrapped his arms around me.

"Well, we don't know for sure if-" Alice got cut off as she suddenly spaced out. Her face was like that for a couple more minutes until she snapped out of it and looked at me with a look of fright in her eyes. She must've had a vision.

"What is it, Alice? What did you see?" I asked nervously.

"There were some blind spots, but I was able to make it out. A newborn vampire army is being created in Seattle and it's building fast," she said in a panicked tone.

"What are newborns?" I asked.

"It's the first stage we hit once the vampire transformation happens. That's when we're at our strongest. Our thirst is at our most uncontrollable," Carlisle said. That would explain all of the murders going on in Seattle.

"Something to look forward to," Emmett added with a smirk.

"Wait, then why did Jake smell a vampire scent in my room and why is my sweater missing?" I questioned. 

"Oh, it all makes sense now! A vampire came into your room to take your sweater to memorize your scent. This could be Victoria's way of revenge. That's probably why the army is being created in the first place," Jared said and the whole wolf pack looked at him in shock.

"What?" he said defensively.

"That's probably the smartest thing you've ever said," Embry mock gasped, making Jared slap him in the back of his head.
