HOPE'S POV
"Where do you think you're going?"
That menacing voice. That voice that brought chills up and down my spine, and not in a good way. Now standing before us, is our biggest enemy.
"What the hell are you doing here, Petro?" Daniel says with gritted teeth.
"Just looking around for stray animals.." a smirk formed on his lips. I swear if looks could kill, he'd be dead by now.
"I didn't know you lost yourself." Daniel bites back. He was fuming, I could tell. His face was red, and his nostrils are flaring. He will never let anyone insult him, because one thing my dad taught us was to never let anyone stomp on you. I remember his words as if he told us this yesterday,
"Don't let anyone make you seem little. You're better than everyone else. This may sound like favoritism, but I'm sure every parent taught their kids this at some point. If not, then they'll do it soon, and if they don't mention anything about this at all, then the kids will get the message themselves. Never, not in a million years, will you ever allow anyone to speak poorly of you. If people do speak poorly of you, look at them straight in the eyes, like you're looking right at their souls, but don't you ever stoop down to their level. One false move, and you become one of them. Life is going to be tough, my dears, but what can we do? This is life, with its ups and downs. Just make sure you always get up after you fall, alright kiddos? Now, off to bed you go."
I have completely zoned out, because by the time I regained my focus, my brother is full on punching Petro. I would've figure that Petro would strike a punch or two here and there, but he didn't. He always did, and now he didn't. That's weird.
Then it hits me. He's not hitting him back. He's not busting Daniel's nose or cracking his jaw. He's waiting for Daniel to get tired until he gets back up on his feet so then he makes the next move. Daniel stopped punching him and got up to his feet.
Oh no.
I screamed, "Daniel don't-" just as Petro threw a punch straight at his face. He lost his balance and fell to the floor.
Petro started violently punching Daniel on his face, kicking at his sides, and I tried so desperately to get him off of him, but he pushed me so hard, I fell on my bum. Two, large men dressed in black suits came in and took hold of my arms. They pulled me to my feet and started pulling me to go out, but I stuck my feet to the ground.
"Move!" one of them says. I shake my head. I'm not moving. He can try all night, but my feet are sticking like glue on the floor.
"I'm. Not. Moving." I spit at him.
"Move, or we'll make you." the other says. I still shake my head. "I'd like to see you try." I say, gritting my teeth.
Before I can process what's happening, one of them places me on his shoulders and I struggle to get him to let me down. I wiggle in his grip, kick my feet, and even yell, but nothing happens. This goddamn building doesn't let go.
"Let go of me! Let me go!" I scream.
This caught Daniel's attention, because in a matter of seconds, he was right by my side. He punched the man that wasn't holding me first, and I swear I heard a bone crack. Mr. Huge Building finally lets me down, and aims a punch at Daniel's face, but Daniel was faster, as threw punch after punch at his face. As Daniel is busy remaking that man's face, Petro tries to take me, but I hit him where I know it'll hurt.
He falls down to the ground with a grunt, holding his crotch. I must've hit him quite hard because his eyes are shut and he doesn't get up.
I run to Daniel's side and grab his arm.
"Daniel, we have to go! Now!" I yell at him. He grabs my hand with no hesitation and we dash to the door with a speed so fast I can feel my feet burning.
We finally made it out. We escaped, we escap-
My thoughts were cut off once Daniel slammed into something, I'm assuming someone's chest, causing me to fall back on my bum, hard. I swear to God this is 'Let Hope Fall On Her Bum Day'.
"Daniel, what's wrong?" I ask with worry in my voice. He doesn't answer me though, and all I can hear is his gulp.
I don't want another fight scene. I can't handle them anymore right now. I just want to escape with Daniel, find Macit, get this fight over once and for all, and go back to my normal life. Is that too much to ask?
"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" an unfamilair voice says. I slowly lift my head up to face a man with a very unpleasant face. He looks quite devil-like, if that's possible. He had bushy eyebrows, a big crooked nose that looks like as if he's been punched, and a smirk on his goddamn face. All I know is that if I ever saw this man on the street, I'd get away from his as soon as possible.
"Stay behind me." Daniel whispers.
"You idiots think you can escape that easily?" He starts laughing.
Daniel stays silent. I don't know why he's not speaking, and I keep whispering things to him like 'come on Daniel, say something', 'do something Daniel', 'why are you just standing there?', but he doesn't answer anything.
He swings a punch at the man's face, but the man soon recovers and punches Daniel twice as hard, sending him flying to the ground. I rush to his side, but before I can say anything, he opens his mouth.
"Run, Hope. Run." He whispers.
I don't argue with him, and nod. My feet start moving, and before I know it, I'm so far from the place where I was living in yesterday, so peacefully and calmly. I'm so far from home.
The only thoughts running through my mind right now are my family's safety, and my brothers' safety. That's all I want.
I'm running Daniel, I'm running.
