HOPE'S POV

I hug Zayn so tight. I hug him so tight to reassure myself that he is here, I'm not imagining this. He's here. He's completely safe. There's nothing to worry about. I was just paranoid.

"Woah, woah, Hope, what's wrong?" Zayn asks, smile wide.

"I just thought something happened to you, you know. It's almost 2 AM, Zayn," I tell him.

"I'm sorry, I should've called. Stuff happened and I got too caught up with it, I apologize," he says softly. Why is he so nervous?

"What happened?" I ask him, wondering why he came so late.

"One of my friend's got in a car accident, and his mother doesn't take these things really well, so I had to take her to go see him in the hospital. He's fine by the way, only got a few scratches here and there. Anyways, I wanted to stay with them in case they needed anything, and the doctors were taking a pretty long time checking that everything was okay with him, since they're afraid they've missed something, as it's not his first time getting an accident," he explains.

"Oh," I say, "Well, I hope your friend is okay now and there's nothing to worry about."

"Yeah, he's fine."

We stand there staring at each other, none of us saying a word. I finally build up the guts and break the silence.

"So, um, do you want to eat? I-I made some food, if you want some," I stutter while speaking. Smooth move.

"Sure, I'd love that." My heart flutters.

*2 HOURS LATER*

Zayn and I end up joking around with each other. It's now 3:50 AM and we're talking about the randomest things ever.

"Do you think vampires exist?" Zayn asks out of the blue.

"What?" I ask, not hearing him correctly.

"You know, those things with fangs and a pale face, quite often mistaken for mosquitos but much larger, do you think they exist?" He asks again, humor in his voice.

"Well, I don't really think so.. I've never seen a vampire, nor have I ever read an article or anything of that matter that has any evidence of vampires on this very Earth," I state, "so, to answer your question in the simplest way possible, no."

He crosses his arms over his chest, my stomach doing somersaults seeing his muscles flex. Wait- what the hell am I talking about? Stop it, Hope. "So until there's evidence of vampires actually being here, you'd then think they exist?"

"Yes," I say.

"That's a load of bull, and you know it," he says childishly.

"Everyone is entitled to their own opinion Zayn."

"Yeah, but what if turn out to be a vampire, but you never knew that?" he says, smirking at the end.

"Oh, I'd know if you were a vampire."

"Really now?"

"Really."

"How so?" he asks, getting closer to me.

"Well, first off, your face should be pale."

"Yeah, and?" he gets even closer.

"You'll have fangs," I say, scooting back. He's getting closer to me, and I swear he could hear my heart thumping uncontrollably.

"Oh Hope, you'd never know if I was a vampire or not, because I'll drink all of your blood, and you won't be able to live anymore, so sucks for you, m'lady."

"Did you just call me, m'lady?" I ask him, quite astonished at the name he's given me.

"Yes, is there a problem, my dear?" he asks, smirking. He's annoying me right now and he knows it. Ever since we've been living together, he has always found a way to piss me off and annoy me, and he does that best when he gives me nicknames. Nicknames I absolutely would hate coming from anyone, but when he says them to me, my heart melts, but I won't tell him that, because.. Well, he doesn't need to know.

"Don't be embarassed, sweet cheeks, it suits you," he says, restraining himself from laughing.

I smack his arm. "Ow, what was that for?" he says, rubbing his arm.

"Stop giving me nicknames, I don't like them," I lie. I love them so damn much.

"Why, does it bother you dear?" Zayn teases.

"Yes, very much in fact."

"Oh, well, we wouldn't want to upset you now, don't we darling?"

"Zayn," I whine, "Stop it," I point my finger at him.

"Alright alright," he laughs, raising his arms in surrender.

I yawn. He notices. "You should go to bed," he says.

"Will do. Do you need anything?" I ask him, my foot on the first step of the staircase.

"I'll be just fine, Hope. Thank you for waiting for me and for making dinner. And for putting up with me. Goodnight, love," he says. My heart is having a party right now.

"It's no problem. Goodnight Zayn."

 "Night."

I go upstairs to my bedroom. I change my clothes, go to the bathroom, brush my teeth and enter the bed.

I close my eyes, finally relaxed and at peace.

I start thinking to what happened today, from Zayn and I eating breakfast, to me waiting for him to come, and to us eating dinner and ending up joking and talking for 2 hours in the middle of the night.

Moments later, before I drift off to sleep, I realize something.
