Having lunch with Lucy, Normani and Dinah, Lauren seemed to be as carefree as she used to be. This caused the two be shocked over the sudden improvement in the green-eyed girl. It wasn't often that Lauren had been willing to open herself to engaging with other people, so Lucy's presence at the moment was some gift from the heavens for Dinah and Normani.
When Lauren's phone had rung, she apologetically excused herself momentarily to take the business call. Standing from the table, Lauren had left the three for a good amount of time. Immediately wanting to converse with Lucy without Lauren around, Dinah was first to break the silence.
"You've definitely brought the old Lauren back, Lucy. You have no idea how grateful we are for your presence at the moment." Dinah commented happily.
"Totally, my best friend was too closed off for a long time. You've done something we can never thank you enough for." Normani joined in.
Blushing at the two's praises, Lucy just smiled at them both in reply. "She's just so amazing. Sometimes I know she's just hiding out, but in all honesty, she's gone through so much too."
"Gurl, my best friend's been a mess for the longest time." Normani chuckled teasingly.
"We're glad you're around. We really need you now." Dinah said in all seriousness. The Polynesian valued Lauren greatly for treating her best friend so well all those years. She had sadly lost touch with Camila over the past few months, having the last thing she has heard was that the brunette was leaving Chicago.
Walking back to the table, Lauren raised her eyebrows at her best friend. "Ya'll better not be interrogating Lucy!" She joked.
"Nah, we just asked her if she had plans of killing you so we could join in and help." Dinah bantered, earning laughs from the three.
"Have you seen Lauren's muscles? She's basically twice my size. I'd probably be dead before I even attack her." Lucy bantered back.
"Oh oh oh, someone's been checking me out, Vives? Didn't think you were one to do that." Lauren teased, making Lucy blush a little.
"Stop it, Lauren! I brought you coffee for fuck's sake. Be thankful!" Lucy scolded the raven-haired girl teasingly.
"Okay, mom." Lauren huffed as she continued on with her meal.
That afternoon, Dinah and Normani had talked over Lauren and Lucy's sudden closeness. Dinah being the best friend of the ex-wife, took no offense in the probability of Lauren falling in love with someone else in the near future. She knew that the raven-haired girl had gone through so much, and if forgetting her best friend was the way to cheer Lauren back on again, then who was she to interfere?
After finding out that Camila decided to flee Chicago and move out of their old home, Lauren had made the decision to completely abstain from talking about her wife and her son. Not that she wanted to forget, but if Camila was that desperate to move away from her, then Lauren would gladly let go if it meant making the brunette happy. She pledged however, to always remember her son on every 16th of August each year, making sure that she would have a gift to give in case she ever sees her son ever again.
Lauren's past had become a taboo topic with the group that the girls never had brought up Camila when the raven-haired girl was around. Months have passed and she had continuously been able to get back up on her feet. Lauren was one of the most prominent people in the business industry, having the greatest amount of success for an advertising company in the last 6 months. The girl had been able to successfully win over multi-million dollar deals with the help of Normani, Dinah and Alexa, and the three were just as proud to see Lauren back to the person she used to be.
