Hiding behind the tree nearest to her car, she waited and waited until the woman walked out with her daughter. Or Camila's daughter, rather. After giving approval to let the woman pick Mica up from school, she knew she had a well devised plan on how to decode this whole game that's been played on them. All she wanted to do was know who had been taunting Camila since that encounter in Dinah's driveway.
Finding a short blonde woman walk out with a hesitant Mica in tow, Lauren knew that she was playing with fire. By risking Camila's daughter, she wasn't sure if she was doing the right thing. All she knew was that with the way her brain was wired, she knew she had to do something before it turned her crazy.
Bringing her car would be a bad idea, since she would easily be spotted. All she did was follow the car as she jogged with a hoodie on the sidewalk as if she was a casual person running through the neighborhood, except this time, she was chasing after something.
Seeing the blonde woman's car parked through the small driveway of an abandoned lot, Lauren thought of calling the police for back-up before diving head first, but upon holding out to her back pocket, she realized that her phone apparently wasn't with her. Walking back would be a terrible idea at this point. It was too far away from the school, and then she remembered that she could lose Mica if she left the area and then came back later. Of course, she wasn't willing to risk that.
Approaching the rather empty lot was a black Chevy, who's driver was wearing black shades and really casual clothing. She could never not recognize even from a mile away. It was Mark. Watching him alight the car and look over at the frightened girl who stood hesitantly by the door way was enough for Lauren to know that the youngster needed her. Mica needed her saving.
She went through the opposite side of the road to enter the complex through the back part of the lot, luckily however, Mark was not smart enough to hire people to surveillance the area. It was just him, the blonde, and two other bouncer-like men who stood behind him.
"Get Michelle inside, we're leaving in a few days. Mila would go frantic over that little girl, I'm sure." He chuckles as he enters the home, the blonde girl and Mica trailing behind.
That's it. No one messes with Lauren's family. You don't mess with Jauregui's.
From the back lot she tried spotting the home from outside. She tried to identify which room Mica was going to be put in, her desire to calm the frightened girl overtaking her much quicker than she should.
"What the fuck is that Karla?! Who fixed your hair like that, you look fucking horrendous!" The man screamed at the little girl, making Lauren panic even from the outside, wanting to just grab the kid and go, only if it were that easy.
She didn't even know if they were equipped. All she knew was she had a small cutter hidden in her boot, a habit that she's been so accustomed of doing ever since she was in college. Wow, that must come in handy when a gun is pointed at you, she thought.
Finding the window to where Mica was being held, she scouted the area to find a tree that could lead her up that high. Bingo. The house had a huge mango tree behind it. Climbing quickly and reaching the windowsill, Lauren waited a little until Mark had left the room before she made tiny knocks on the glass.
The knocking quickly getting her attention, Mica stood up quickly and hurried to check what it was.
"Babe, it's me. Let's go home." Lauren said in the softest possible way she could, one of her knees hanging in the room as she held her hand out for the youngster to take, which Mica willingly took immediately.
