But then the morning came, and still nothing.
Then the next morning came, and nothing was heard except for sheer silence.
Until one day became two, and two became three.
Camila was so close to losing her mind after trying to fathom the fact that her daughter and her ex-wife was missing. Everyone was on the lowest of their lows. Jacob being the only suitable comfort system for the brunette, who clung onto each other for support during those pointless meetings with the police whenever they'd come to monitor the home. Dinah and Normani had taken off of the work, leaving majority of the job to the staff to handle not unless it required for their attention. Lucy on the other hand, was frantically pacing through the home with Dinah and Normani, causing the brunette to feel a little bit inferior as compared to the worrisome Colombian.
They day was going just like how the previous two went, finding open-ended leads that would have hopefully lead them to Lauren, which of cause all went to waste when they realized that the person they were dealing with didn't seem new to this. It was as if they were playing games with a criminal, knowing exactly how to clean after their mess and not leave anything left behind.
On the third morning the brunette was found almost lifelessly sobbing on Lauren's bed, the twelve year old kneeling on the other side of the bed to rub circles onto Camila's back soothingly, following what he recalled to be Lauren's way of calming her down. She was slowly running out of hope, thinking that it was her that deserved all these instead of the woman that saved her life almost twice. It was as if the world hated her, that they knew exactly how to cripple her without physically cutting through her skin. What seemed like the worst kind of pain, the brunette was sure that it was everything she felt at the moment.
"Mami, you have to eat. The baby might be hungry." Jacob said softly as he came face-to-face with the crying brunette.
"I'm not hungry." Camila shrugged as she casually rejected the offer.
"Mama always told me to take care of you. When I ran away she told me stories of how you and mama would be whenever she knew you were not feeling well. S-she said she runs you a bath and then gives you pizza." The boy told the brunette, recalling one of the stories Lauren told him the first week he met her.
"I don't want to." Camila uttered frustrated.
"Please mami, for me? For mama?" Jacob pleaded as he lifted off the bed to walk over to the brunette's side and offer her a hand. Finally agreeing, Camila slowly stood up looking disheveled, allowing the young boy to pull over one of Lauren's hoodies on the pregnant woman's head before leading them both down the staircase, where they were ought to meet a fazed Polynesian and the two other girls.
"Hey, Walz. Want to eat pancakes?" Dinah offered hopefully.
Looking at her with pleading eyes, Normani knew better than to wait for a response, immediately guiding the woman to the dining table, silently thanking Jacob for finally getting his mom out of bed this morning.
"You know, I don't understand why she's getting so upset. Isn't she the one that wanted Lauren out of her life in the first place?" Lucy shot annoyed, obviously not appreciating the way Camila seemed to have been of no use since Lauren's disappearance.
"Luce, we don't need unnecessary stress right now. That's just anger speaking, it wouldn't help." Dinah reminded the Colombian, thankful that the brunette didn't hear the unwarranted comment.
"I'm just saying. She doesn't deserve Lauren. She never did." Lucy angrily uttered, standing from the sofa to pace around the living room.
Not knowing that the brunette was intently listening, she was caught off-guard when the brunette suddenly spoke up.
