Back in the hustle and bustle of being a CEO in Chicago, Lauren was forced immediately to return to MarketOne as soon as she arrived. Having so much meetings that were pushed aside for her trip to Los Angeles, she had a lot of catching up to do; Meetings, papers that needed her signature, and the daily marketing strategy plans for their next clients in the months to come. Deciding to allow Dinah on for an indefinite leave for the sake of the brunette, Lauren had been taking up most of the Polynesian's deliverables along with Normani as her right hand person temporarily.
Facing the reality of having to deal with her conflicted feelings between Camila and Lucy, the raven-haired girl was in denial of the fact that her mind had been continuously drifting back to the brunette that was recuperating in the hospital in LA. With her pregnancy being a high-risk one, the doctors wanted more time to ensure the baby's stability before releasing the brunette from their care. That fact alone left Lauren's mind occupied most of the time, worrying that something might just happen to Camila while she was stuck in her office, dealing with the anxieties that was lurking through her mind.
A soft knock was heard from the door of her office, following a small slit that revealed the Colombian on the other side of the door.
"Care for some company today, Jauregui?" Lucy called out, holding two cups of coffee for the two of them to share.
"Vives! I thought you forgot about me already." Lauren joked as she watched the woman take a seat on her lounge chair adjacent to her work desk.
"So, how have you been?" Lucy asked with a smile on her face, hoping that she'd be able to keep her composure at the answer she was bound to get.
"Physically, I'm good. Mentally? My mind's at war." The raven-haired girl explained, rubbing the side of her temples in frustration.
"What's going through that mind of yours this time? You're always in some trance, Lo." The Colombian said in a tone of concern, worried about how Lauren's mind seemed to be so preoccupied lately.
"My mind's in a state of a push and pull at the moment, Luce. It's all over the place and I really hate having to choose between the two ends of a line that never meets. It's like if I choose, I fail someone." Lauren explained as she exhaled the breath she held in.
Interrupting the moment, Lauren's phone rang right as Lucy was about to speak. Hurrying to answer the call, Lauren stood up and faced her overlooking glass window as she accepted the Facetime call.
"Yo Lauser!" the Polynesian's voice surrounded the room.
"Dinah, is everything okay?" The raven-haired girl uttered worriedly. The last time the Polynesian called, it was because Camila was experiencing premature contractions. Worried that something might have happened to the brunette, Lauren was pacing through her office.
"I was just going to tell you that Camila already got the clearance from the doctors to be discharged!" Dinah said as she laughed at the obvious worry that was filling the raven-haired girl's face.
Calming down a little, Lauren looked at the Colombian who was now mindlessly scrolling through her phone, trying her best not to show any uneasiness upon hearing the conversation.
"Where's Camila then?" Lauren asked as she scanned her screen, looking for any sight of the brunette.
"The nurses took her out for a short walk with Mica. The little one hasn't really toned down since she realized that she was about to have a baby sister so they decided to tag her along to tire her out." Dinah chuckled, obviously wanting to tease the raven-haired girl about how much she cared for her ex-wife. "You miss her already don't you?" The Polynesian said with a smirk.
