Chapter 40

I wake up and see Jughead still sleeping. I smile and sit up. I don't feel very tired, so I check my phone for the time. It's around 10. I guess I should get home.

I stand up and give him a kiss on the forehead. I walk out of the room and into my car. I start it and drive back to my apartment. I walk in and find some clothes to wear today. When I'm done I go into my kitchen and get something to eat. Then I remember something, Christmas is coming up soon. I need to get something for I think that the 'Secret Santa' thing that Kevin is planning is tomorrow. I think for a second. I have to get something for Betty. I think I have some money saved up.

I go over to my closest and open the safe. There's a lot of cash, from saving up from work. I get it out and count it up. $350. Wow. I have rent for like the next few months. However, there is a $20 limit for the gifts. I put some of it back. Maybe I can find something for Jughead too. I close the safe and walk out the door. I get into my car and drive downtown. I park my car on the street and then walk around a little bit. I walk into a little antique store.

An older lady greets me when I come in. "Hello, dear," she smiles.

I smile back, "Hi." I start walking around. There are shelves of old jewelry, purses, clothes, and hats. I come across this one charm bracelet that catches my eye. I pick it up. Its chain is gold, and there's a heart charm, a flower, a dollar sign, a different heart, and a butterfly. I look at the price of it and it's $3.50. Not bad at all.

There's also a necklace next to it. There's a silver heart on a silver chain. It's really pretty. I could get this for Betty. I mean, She's my friend, too. I think that she wears jewelry? I'm not sure. I turn the box over to reveal the price, $5.50. That's not bad either.

I walk around a little more and find a necklace with a cherry on it. Cheryl. I take the necklace and look at the price. $4.50. She'll love this. I smile and take the jewelry with me while I keep walking around.

I wonder if I can find something for Jughead. I walk to another part of the room and see a bunch of antique typewriters and old writing books. "Maybe he would want one of these.." I whisper to myself, so she can't hear. I kneel down and look at some of the typewriters, and the prices. They are a little bit older, so they shouldn't be too expensive. He wouldn't even have to use it, he could just have it in his trailer for decoration. I lift one up and look at the bottom of it for the price, and it's $25. Hm, I guess it could be a lot more. And I do love him. It's not too heavy to carry. I take it over to the desk with the necklace. "These things, please," I smile.

She smiles and looks on at the prices of the items. She adds up on her calculator. "$39.70 is your total." She puts the items into a bag.

I pull out my wallet and get two twenties out. I give it to her, "You can keep the change."

"Thank you, dear."

I smile, "No problem. Merry Christmas." I take the bag.

"Merry Christmas."

I give her one more smile and then walk out of the store. I walk to my car and put the bag in the front seat. I think for a second, "I guess I should get something for Archie and Kevin.." I close the door and walk around some more. I walk into another store. There are t-shirts and hats everywhere. Yeah, this looks like a place for Arch and Kev. I start walking around. There are a couple people in here, probably Christmas shopping as well. I look around and find a blue t-shirt with Archie's favorite football team mascot on it. (I don't know what it is lololol) This would look good, I think. I check the price and it's $6. I take it with me and keep looking around for something for Kevin.
