CHLOE'S POV
I've been back in school for about a week now. It's hell.
You leave for two weeks and people start rumors.
People are saying it was actually Jade's older sister.
I try to block it out.
Focusing is hard.
Not because of the accident but what's happened after.
My parents splitting up, my mental health just worsening.
At the beginning of eighth period, I get called down to guidance.
I take the pass and roll my eyes.
She's probably just seeing how I'm doing.
Even though she's been my counselor since freshman year, she's still a stranger to me.
I only see her for scheduling.
I'm not about to tell a total stranger all this trauma.
As I sit down in her office, the loudspeaker goes on.
The vice principal calls down all seniors to the auditorium for an assembly.
Oh great.
It's probably about safe driving.
My counselor lets me leave her office.
I walk down to the auditorium.
I open the door.
I stand there in shock at the sight in front of me.
The stage is set up like Lin Manual Miranda's musical, Twenty One Chump Street.
I see the lead in every musical in Lin's spot.
I see Drew in Justin's spot.
What's he about to do?
The song starts playing.
He sings the whole song.
Two theater kids bring me up on stage.
He gets to the end part.
"Chloe, will you go to prom with me?" He sang.
"Yes!" I screamed and jumped into his arms.
