DREW'S POV
I hear a loud door slam next door.I peer out the window.
I see a quick little thing run down the block.
"Shit. Is that Chlo?" I asked.
"Mom, I'm going back out. I'll try not to be long." I said putting my jacket back on.
I ran down the block to the park.
I looked around.
I saw a person with their head down on one of the swings.
I walk over.
"Chlo, is that you?" I asked.
She picked her head up.
Her eyes looked sad.
There were tears streaming down her face.
There were mascara stains on her cheeks.
"Unfortunately it is." She squeaked.
"What happened?" I asked wrapping my jacket around her.
"I walked in on my parents fighting and I asked why they were home early, my dad snapped at me and said I wasn't planned and I was supposed to be a boy. He called me the daughter he never wanted." She explained.
"Oh Chlo." I said holding her.
I held her to my chest.
I started singing Dear Evan Hansen to her.
I sang her all of You Will Be Found.
It made her feel a little better.
"Come on, I'll take you home now." I said.
She nodded her head no.
"Why would I go somewhere where I'm not wanted?" She asked.
"I'll take you back to my house." I said taking her hand.
When I opened the door, her mom was there.
"Mom?" She asked.
"Oh Chloe. I'm so sorry." She said.
"Your dad, he's always wanted a boy. But when you came, he loved you. He's just mad at me and took it out on you." She explained.
"Words hurt, mom." Chloe said.
"I know. I understand if you don't come home tonight." She said getting ready to leave.
