"Fullmetal & Halfmetal...Together?!" That's what the title of the newspaper said. I read it out loud several times, trying to see if my eyes deceived me. I kept telling myself in a frantic nervous breakdown that it had to be false, it was just someone playing a mad trick on me. However the more I read it, the more I realized that it was true; no one falsified the news.
I followed by glaring at the front cover picture for several minutes. It was plastered on the front page with its thick black colored ink. It had him diving to my leg to see if it was metal...only some people don't get that that is what he was trying to do.
Hence even more why I don't wear skirts. You can't be pretty when you're fighting. You've gotta protect yourself from everyone and everything. You've gotta protect everyone.
Alright, now I was mad. Not at him, exactly.
Okay, I admit; I was mad at him. Exactly.
It was his fault for all of this. I mean, first he's trying to figure out what I did-something I don't even wanna think of. I though I was allowed to finally move on? Maybe not? Roy gave me, a ten year old at the time, a beating for everything that I did up to that point in my life. I really really don't need to repeat that. I was pretty sure I learned my lesson then. It's the fact he overstepped his ground to try to drill it in my head again. That's what pissed me off. Just because my father's dead-and my mother probably is too by this point-doesn't mean you have to act like my "father". My father never would've punished me for that.
It's the fact that the Colonel thinks he's all that, but he's just full of it! Gosh that man makes me mad.
The good news was Ed and I were lodging in the same building on this wonderful (wretched) morning.
"That's it, I'm done. Just done!" I retort aloud to myself, alone in my room. Everything was just fantastic. I was now talking aloud to myself. I shoved on my overcoat over the tank top I wore to sleep and the short shorts I wore because I had to get out of the pants I wore during the day. My mess of hair was just thrown back into a ponytail which was a tad bit lopsided to the right. My bangs still flopped out in front of my face as I shoved my feet in my black leather combat boots-without socks. There was no time in my dramatic rage to throw on socks or actually put a shirt over my tank top. Who cared at this point if my arm was exposed. I hope it was, because that hunk of metal would be punching someone in the face in a moment here.
I pocketed the room key and grabbed the newspaper in my right first, crushing it with my fury as I threw open my room door before slamming it shut. Who cares who was woken up by me. It wasn't my fault anyway. It was his fault for doing this to me.
I now was storming over to where Ed and Al were staying. Each footstep was heavier than the first. The fact that it was three in the morning didn't even faze me at this point. Nothing would, and nothing could. Not even the fact I was about to break into where another state alchemist was sleeping-which is probably all the more against all the laws that I already broken. Even rules seemed to always bend for me. It was always my way or you're getting out of my way. No exceptions.
I knew where the two were staying. It was easy to find, since I spied on them last night (also something I did against the rules) and saw where they stayed because they were watching me suspiciously. I was about ready to clap my hands and break down the door when I thought I should at least be a bit more polite, since I was going to cause enough chaos once I had arrived on the other side of this door. I shuffled through my pocket for the knife of mine. Pocket watch, room key, knife. I thought to myself, Identifying all the objects I felt graze against my hand I felt everything in my right pocket while I crushed the newspaper even more in my metal arm. I found the knife and used it to jam the door lock open by jamming it in the doorway. Soon I felt the door unlatch, which allowed an evil smirk to fill my angry smile as I spun on my left leg, using my right metal one to kick open the door. It broke off the hinges and fell to the floor with a rather loud thud. By this time my smirk had faded as the fury and rage filled my eyes and face once again.
Al stood up, knocking over the sofa where Ed was sleeping. It was odd since he wasn't sleeping in the bed by the window. Ed fell to the ground with another thud, about ready to scream at Al before he noticed me at the door. He had to, for the room was dark save now for the light that seeped in with me from the hallway.
"El, what are you doing here?!" Al exclaimed, dropping the cat he had in his hands.
I lowered my leg from my kicking stance and pocked the knife slowly at his words, before my rage came off of me. My words unlike my actions were thick, bold, and loud. "Well, then maybe you're short friend here can explain this!" I yelled probably waking everyone else up in the building if they weren't already awakened by my storming. I chucking the newspaper at Al, who finally noticed my outfit choice: dark black shorts and a light lavender shirt, when both were at least two inches too short, all being topped off with my long dark-ish purple jacket like Ed's. I don't know how he didn't notice right as I kicked down the door. I mean, oh hey look my rage and fury are so bold and noticeable that that's all people can focus on.
Good, so that means I haven't lost your attention yet.
"Ed! You made the front page!" Al exclaimed in bad way, tossing the newspaper to Ed. Al then carried on to pick up the poor little cat with the fur that had the color mix in between tan and a goldenrod. It mewed softly at him, but didn't even bother to hiss at me. It was afraid of me.
"What, WHAT THE HELL!!" Ed screams, probably waking up the last of the people who slept through my previous outbursts. I walk over to the door and clap my hands. I lift it off the ground as my alchemy spreads from not only the door to the hinges as I fix it and shut it gently before the argument continues.
I turn around and storm back over to him, "Look what you did, huh?" I screamed, "LOOK WHAT YOU DID!!!"
"These people are nutcases!" Ed threw his hands up in defense. He was scared of me too.
"See what you did! Now what am I going to do?!" I balled my fists.
Ed's eyes widened as he pointed to himself, "What am I going to do, now everyone think's I'm a damn peeping tom!"
Al, the cat, and I just stared in silence at Ed after he said that. You could hear the people in the hallways clamoring on to the guards about how someone woke them all up.
After about a minute of this silence, I fell to the ground in laughter. I couldn't control it anymore I was laughing so hard. Al and the cat followed too, with their own uncontrollable laughter. Ed now had his turn to be outraged, and he started yelling for us to shut up, but we couldn't. I had to dry tears of laughter from my eyes. The short blond just called himself a damn peeping tom!
"It's not funny!" Ed snapped, changing his metal arm into a blade as I got off the floor. He charged at me while I did the same to my left arm, blocking all his attacks. I countered each flawlessly.
Al just watched as Winry entered the room. She yawned as she closed the door behind her. She then saw the sight set in front of her: I was on top of Ed, my metal Arm dagger to his neck and I was locking him to the floor. I could see the wheels churning in his head of plans to attempt to throw me off. I was preparing to keep my upper hand in this.
One of Winry's eyebrows raised slightly over the other as she questioned my existence, "Ed...who's....AH!" She screamed in a fan-girling manner, "It's the Halfmetal Alchemist! How come you never told me you knew her?! I always wanted to see her auto-mail!"
Ed rolled his eyes pathetically, "I just met her yesterday."
"Um, I think you just interrupted something," Al said, throwing Winry the newspaper.
She read the headline. She dropped it, putting her hands on her fist and spoke boldly with excessive pride in her voice, "How could they! You were just checking out her awesome auto-mail!" There was definitely a gleam in her eyes. She walked over to me while I still had Ed pinned to the ground, as her eyes twinkled brighter than stars, "Could I see your auto-mail please please please?! It's so much like Ed's!"
I shrug, still pinning him down. He gave up all effort to throw me off and just rolled his eyes again while I responded, "Sure, just what should I do with him?"
"You could get off of me," I retorts in a low mutter.
"Let him go, I think he learned," Al said as the cat jumped from his arms to the floor to lick Ed's annoyed face. I let Ed go, who was now annoyed at three am in the morning.
My mission had been a success.
