Eclair's POV
Back at Trevor's, we decided to stay the night to gear up for the next day. Winry had handed me some new metal things, along with Ed.
"Well, you're not called Fullmetal and Halfmetal for nothin'. So let me show ya'. This one goes over your auto-mail as a protective coat. This one goes over your other arm to protect it, and those go the same as the arms, just on your shins." She helped me gear up while I was wearing shorts, so I could see how it all fit.
"What about you? Don't you need protection?" I ask.
"Trevor and I already made covers for ourselves. And already prepared extra auto-mail just in case you break it."
"Sweet" I say, flexing everything, making sure it works.
"Glad you like it." Winry skips off, and I go back to the thing I've been doing all day: Avoiding Trevor's Father.
I didn't wanna another word with him about Ed. We're just friends. My comrade. In battle, the last thing you wanna think about is things like that.
"El, is something getting to you?" Ed asks.
"Nothin'. Just in a bad mood."
The shop door opens and someone walks in. Just the village owner.
"Oh, hello. Welcome to whatever-this-place-is-called. How can I help you?" I ask. Very convincing to talk to they guy you used to work aside before becoming a dog of the military, and when you're wearing short shorts, and a Cami with full auto-mail protection on.
"Elanie?" He asks.
"Yeah?" I remove the protection from my right arm and left leg.
"That is you! You've grown so much. How's your job?"
"If you read the front page of the newspaper today you would know how my past few weeks have gone." I say, removing the other protection. I put it on the counter where I was sitting.
"So, otherwise, how's it going? Do you like it?"
"Sometimes better than others." I say. Ed comes down to see what's going on. "So what are you here for?"
"I came to find a girl named Ayumi, and give her this" He hands me a pendent made out of amethyst. It was quite adorable. "It came in the mail. Said to be her mothers."
"I'll give it to her." I said, before shouting, "YUMI!!!! GET DOWN HERE!!!"
"What?! Are you okay?! Something wrong?!" she runs down. I toss her the necklace.
"Apparently it's your mothers. Came by mail. It's yours." I say, she walks back up without saying another word.
"And who would this young man be?" He asked Ed.
"Edward Elric. Maybe you heard of me. The fullmetal alchemist"
"If you read the front page of the newspaper you'd know" I also put it.
"You're not going to be taking Elanie, are you?"
"What does 'taking' mean?"
I looked away, having my messy hair cover my face.
"You're not going to marry her, are you?"
"We're only sixteen, give us a Break!" I said, trying to break up the madness.
"Why would I do that?" Ed asked. He looked angered.
"I just have to ask. She was one of the most important people to this place at one time. I've even asked Trevor that same question several times. He always replies no, saying how much he hates you. I'd hate to see such a pretty girl be taken by someone I hadn't even met before"
"Well thanks for your concern, but I seem to do pretty well on my own. People around me tend to get hurt, and or die."
"Just be careful, Elanie. You don't wanna be caught off guard."
"I'm never off guard. I could kill you at least ten different ways right now."
"Just don't forget that." He then left, and didn't come back. I wanted to squeeze his guts out like a ketchup bottle. Why must everyone insist I like Ed? Do I act differently towards others?
