Eclair's POV
"So, how-but-ah-"
"I just didn't say a word. Hard, but I didn't." I whisper. I hear a knock on the door.
Trevor.
"Can I come in, I want to talk to you guys" Trevor said. I quickly jumped back into Al, as Ed opens the door.
"What do you need?" Ed asks, as Al sits down. I try my best to keep silent.
"I better get going...." Winry says, as she runs out of the room, shutting the door behind her.
"I want to tell you the reason I hate Alchemy, and El." Trevor started, before he sat down right next to Al. I almost wanted to scream, but that'd give away my cover. And this was something I wanted to hear.
"So" Ed pushed.
"El pulled me into helping me transmute her father. She needed some skin, so I gave her some of mine. It hurt cutting it off, but I didn't mind it much. She seemed happy, and that's all that mattered, since she hardly ever smiled. She wanted me with her at the time, so she wasn't alone. I agreed, but that was a mistake. She always told me how everything would go great, and be fine, turn out wonderful. But then...."
"It didn't." Ed summed up.
"Yeah. That's why I don't like Alchemy. I saw some things that day that I wished I never would've saw. I wanted to die. But El didn't let me die. She screamed at the time, 'Trevor! I'll do something! This all went wrong! I'll help you. It doesn't matter about me. You're life is more important!'. Well, She really dIdn't know, we needed her. All of us. She always acted bratty and too smart for everyone else, and ended up dragging me down with her, putting herself down, wanting to die. She wants to die. She wants everyone but her to suffer, and have us pity her, and help her. Even after that day, she still never smiled, or apologized. She helped me, and took the toll on herself. Never cared about herself. Never cared about anyone. Just wanted to find a way to die. So selfless, and never learned. She still uses alchemy, even after what she has done. Now going to find a way to satisfy her selfish needs to get back what she lost. She never learns, and never apologizes."
"I think she's sorry" Al said. My eyes widened.
"She told me...that she wanted to protect you...and your father...she just wanted to have a home."
"But she never tells us anything. She just shows up in pieces."
"She's like a man. Has a short temper. Goes out of her way not to say anything so you don't worry about her. She wants you to think of her as a brother. A friend. Someone who's there when she needs you, and would let her become what she wants to become." Ed tells him. A few tears fall down my face. I try not to sob, and stay quiet.
"So, she wants me to be there, when she needs me, and nothing more?"
"That's it. She trusts you to be there when she needs you, but are free to do anything when she doesn't need you. You do too. If El didn't come when she did and broke up that fight with that man, your father might've been killed. You needed her, and she was there." Al explains. More tears fall. I can't stand to stay silent for any longer. I close my eyes, and try not to make a sound.
"I better get going" Trevor states, as he walks out of the room, about to shut the door behind him.
"Wait!" I shout. I remove Al's head, as Ed shouts my name. Trevor turns around.
"Thankyou. Thankyou. Thankyou for everything." I cry, as more tears fall.
