♡ Megan's POV ♡
"I messed up so bad," I mumbled, stuffing my face into the pillow i had been hugging so tightly. Bianca rubbed my back soothingly, while Anna leaned her head on my shoulder.
"You didn't do anything wrong," Bianca said.
"Yeah, he kissed you first," Anna added. I just grunted into the pillow, squeezing harder.
I had invited Anna and Bianca over to explain all of the events from the hours before. I told them everything, from the subtle hints, to his confession, to the kiss. Anna held a smug grin the entire time while Bianca just looked stunned. After the kiss I shared with Jaden, I ran home as fast as my legs could carry me, despite his callings. As soon as I got home I took a shower, trying to wash away how dirty I felt. When I got out, I had texted Anna and Bianca to come ASAP.
"I never stopped him either," I said, lifting my face from the pillow. "I don't know what to do."
Silence fell upon us, the only sound being my own heavy breathing. I thought about Jaden and how he had treated me all of my life. Then I thought about Matt and how devastated he'd be if I told him about Jaden and me. Even my imagination's version of the way it'd play out was too much to bear.
"Well, you need to ask yourself that dreaded question," Anna said, looking me straight in the eyes. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and smiled.
"What's that?" I asked, already knowing the answer. I closed my eyes and tried to think.
"Who do you like more?" Bianca answered. She and Anna sat directly across from me, and it almost felt like an intervention.
I actually thought about it, hitting a dead end. "Even I don't know the answer to that question."
"Okay, time for the pros and cons," Anna chuckled.
Now we're comparing the two. Oh boy.
"Pros of Matt," Bianca started.
"Total sweetheart," I gushed.
"Contagious smile," Anna added. I nodded, agreeing.
"Very good looking, athletic, funny, supportive, charismatic. Matt has always just been so..." I trailed off, unsure of the words I was looking for.
"Perfect," Bianca finished. I nodded again, agreeing.
"Exactly. Matt is the perfect guy under so many aspects," I said more to myself.
"But he also broke your heart," Anna said. "And who was there to pick up the broken pieces and help you bounce back?"
"Jaden was there for me when Matt wasn't," I said, more to myself. "Jaden has always been my best friend for as long as I can remember. It's true, he's been there for me. He's seen me at my best and my worst. I value our friendship more than anything."
"Seems to me like you're using the word friend a lot on purpose," Bianca chuckled.
"Friendzoned," Anna teased.
"Then why is the decision so hard? If he was just a friend, why are we sitting here discussing this?" I asked, frustrated. Silence again.
"Because you're confused," Anna answered after a while.
"That doesn't even begin to describe how I feel," I mumbled.
"Well," Bianca said, "Why Jaden then? We need his pros too."
