I live with my 3 year old, Maddie who is my world. The apartment is not my ideal for my little one to grow up with. I have taught her a few things if we would get away. I have made her a getaway backpack, who to call which was my neighbor, Lauren who lives 3 doors down. We have a code name, Harmony. I had a plan and told Lauren. Her parents was coming down and I needed them to take Maddie to their house. It was the day. I picked up my daughter from school and told her when it was time.
My soon to be divorce husband was bad guy. He would do things to me that I wish on anyone to be surrounded or be heard. He comes home with horrible alcohol breathe. He is sometimes passed the limits. He had his buddy always drop him off after his shift. I didn't like the way he treated me. My neighbor, Lauren is really nice, and Maddie loves her. I let her sometimes babysit her while I keep him in the room. I don't want him to hurt me anymore or have Maddie feel scared in her own house. I couldn't keep living like this.
I made Maddie have everything she wanted to keep, her blanket, her stuffed elephant, and her crayons with papers to draw later on. I kissed her head and told her I love her. When I close the door, I want you to go outside with my phone in her hand. Find a grownup and made them call for help. Tell to call Clara Jauregui.
"Okayy mama. I love youuu."
"Be safe okay baby girl. I will see you real soon. Don't worry. Don't forget to know real hard on Lauren's door"
She nodded and smiled and went into her room. I closed the door and waited for him to come home.
I heard the door clicked and as always, he was drunk and had a cigarette in his hand. That was new.
"WHY WAS THE DOOR UNLOCKED?"
"I'm sorry baby, I must've forgot."
"Madison!"
"NO BABE, it was me, she didn't do it. Let's go in our room. I missed you."
"That's what I like to hear. Are you wearing anything under that shirt?"
"No baby."
He smirked and walked carelessly and headed in our room. I closed the door as Maddie's room opened. I gave her thumbs up and she did as well. I waited until I heard the big door open.
"WHO LEFT?"
"No one baby. It must've be next door. Come on. I'll lay down."
He let it go and became very rough. on me. He dropped the cigar on the floor. I don't know if he let stopped the smoke.
"Stop! I don't want this right now."
"Too late, fucking idiot."
"No I mean what's that smell?"
"Don't fucking care."
He kept pushing in so hard and so fast. I kept hitting him but he put my arms down hard. He had the handcuffs on the table. He reached for them and put them on me against the bed post.
As soon I saw the flame getting bigger and growing towards the curtains, I heard someone coming in.
It was Lauren. She had a bat to hit break the door.
"OMG ALLYSON. "
"WHO ARE THE HELL YOU?"
She hit hard and he fell off the bed. She knew I couldn't breathe.
"Close your pretty eyes, baby girl." She said in her calming voice. I was already losing my breath. I heard a crack, and I was free.
She tried to cover the flames with my comforter and then I quickly carried me like a bridal style out of the building. My daughter was with her parents. I was so happy there was ambulance waiting outside.
"I'm her girlfriend" I her say one of the emts so she could can ride with them. She held my hand.
"Hey." I said as I was breathing much better.
"Hi baby girl." I smiled at me and I was okay.
"You're safe baby."
We got to the hospital and my daughter and her parents were waiting for her. I smiled at Maddie and she raised her arms up. She carried her in her arms and told her she did a great job and I was proud of her. The bond they both had was special and I loved it. I wanted this be real. I really did. She was so good to me and my daughter.
"Hey Laur, can you bring Maddie here?"
She smiled and walked towards me and laid Maddie next to me.
"Hi cutie, I heard you were so brave and you did such a great job. I'm so proud of you."
"Thanks mama, I drew you a picture at Laurennn's house."
"Oooh let me see cutie."
"Here you go!"
"Oh that's really good baby. I love it!"
"Thanks mama!!" She hugged me and I kissed her and we did our little handshake.
"I love you so much."

"What do you think we should have dinner at?"
"Waffle House?!"
"You are your mama's daughter."
"I agree." I heard Lauren said. We laughed at I stared at her for awhile.
"Hey Maddie, why don't you color me some more of your drawings while Lauren and I talk okay?"
"Okay mama!"
I scoot over as I motioned her to sit next to me.
"So you earlier told that emt, that you were my girlfriend.."
"Yeah but I wanted to make sure you were okay, I mean I saved your life.."
'Yes, which I loved that how you carried me, it was super cute. I thank you so much."
"Well, you're welcome, baby girl."
"You're super cute when you call me that."
"Well is it okay if I kiss you?"
"Yes, por favor."
"Aye mamí ."
She kissed me slowly and then looked at me. I smiled and then bit lip and she started kissing me more. I pulled her closer more.
"Baby girl, I would like to see what's under that gown, but how we take it slow." she whispered to me.
"Oh my god, but yes, we can do that. How we take Maddie to your apartment, and we order something?"
"Sounds good to me. But I will like to take you out for a date if that's okay."
"Why yes, I would love to go out with you, babe."
She smiled big and kissed me again. I looked at her again and I hugged her.
