It was the end of another school year, my family loves to travel to a little town that has a resort that we stay with no electronics, one it has no service and really old school. I said to bye to my friends and went home. I actually enjoy the downtime. I bring my books, crosswords and sudoku. My brother brings a deck of cards and monopoly and my younger sister brings crafty things to make.

We are not the average family, we don't spend hours and hours on our phones or play video games or even argue. We get along and we do some stuff together as a family. There was one extra thing or more actually a person that makes this trip special. Her name is Ally Hernandez.

Her family is similar to my family except she just has a brother who is also awesome. We all get along for two months until we all go back to school. She lives in San Antonio and I live in Miami. Our families have been always meeting every year for the 10 years. Ally and I always had been contact. First pen pals, then emails, and then when we first got our own phones we started texting.

We aren't dating or anything like that yet, but we're really close and out to our families which they all accepts us which is a good thing. We just haven't really talked about that situation yet. I am terrified of losing my best friend and messing things up with it, so I'm just hoping we're both on the same page and okay with going forward. She's the reason I'm waking up with a smile each day and working more and more on my studies to get in the same college as hers.

We both have been talking about going to the same college in New York ever since we visited last  winter break. It was one of her favorite places and I ended up understanding why. It was a magical city. So many things to see, to look at and to watch. We took a ferry, a subway and a bus to go all around. We sat in central park, we saw a broadway show and the 9/11 memorial. It was a fun trip.

"Lauren, are you ready to go?"

"yes Papa." I grabbed my bags and put it in the car. My sister and I took a nap on the way there. It wasn't a long trip, I just have been very tired lately. I tried to get my homework and projects done early just so I won't have to worry about on this trip. I did bring my flash cards to study, which it's not bad or long. I like to study and learn more things.

When we got there, I went out to the patio area to read one of my books with some of the chips. My sister decided to go a hike with my brother. I would usually join them but I kinda wanted to relax. It's been a hard week at school with finals and all.

I was about to close my eyes until a pair of another eyes were covering my eyes.

"Hey" a cute voice said. I got up from the lounge chair and hugged her.  It was my favorite person.

"Hi Allyson!" She hugged me again.

"I missed you."

"I missed you cutie. It's been almost a month we saw last."

"I know and now two months!" she said

"It's going to be a fun one!"

"Oh yeah? Is this time we won't fall into the water from kayak?

"Hey, the last time wasn't my fault! Brandon was standing, do not know why" I started to laugh again. That memory was funny. Ally didn't like it but it was still funny. We sat and started talking about our trip to NYU and how we would plan it. We decided to room together. I decided to study journalism and she decided to major in music. It was something we were passionate about and took it very seriously.

I wanted to be a writer and she wanted to be a pop star singer which I am all for it. She has an amazing voice that she would want me to sing with her and some nights she would just sing me to sleep. I have bad anxiety that she automatically knows when and how to calm me down. It was nice to be around her again. She had this presence about her, I really don't know how to explain it but it was a good feeling.

"What are you thinking about? she asked

"Just about the future... with you" I said

She smiled big and sigh and a cute way. She moved closer to me and snuggled with me.

"I think about that a lot too."  We stayed like that for a long time, not knowing we took a nap together. The next thing I knew my mom woke us, for dinner.

We got up but I grabbed her hand. She looked at me with a curious look. I took a deep breath and took my other hand.

"You okay, cutie?" she asked

"Yeah I am, I just wanted to do something for a long time.." I cupped her face and kissed her. She and I stopped to make sure it was an okay thing to do. She smiled big and kissed me again.

"Can I call you my babe?" I said in a whisper

"Yes, but why are were whispering.

"I don't know, sorry." I nervously laughed.

"You're really cute. Now can we go eat?" She asked

"Yes we can." We walked in hand in hand and sat next to each other and talked along with our families. We would steal glances at each other. I felt like we were in our own world. I could stare at those brown eyes all day if I could. They were my favorite. I can't believe I kissed her. She kissed me back too.

- so so sorry for the long delay and mistake for publishing it when I did by accident. Hope you're not mad at me 😬🥺
