I'm Walking Out Forever

"Ms. Margaret," the nurse called out. "Dr. James is now ready to see you."

 My mom and I got up from the waiting seat and followed behind her. 

She stopped at a door that had Dr. James written across.

“He should be right inside,"

"Thank you,"

 I twist the door open as my mom and I walked in,

 "Come in," James's kindly welcomed us in. He stood up from his desk, taking his hand out for a shake" Dr. James"

I shook back "Margaret,"

 “How are you?"

“I’m great. Just came to check on my pregnancy."

I took a sit across from his desk while my mom greeted him.

   "Are you also here for a checkup?"  He asked her

“No," She shook her head smiling "I'm her mother."

“My bad,"

“It’s alright." She took a seat next to me

"So Margaret what brought you here today?" He sat back down

"Last night I had horrible cramps on my lower stomach.  It has never happened ever since I got pregnant."

He nodded picking up a pen and began writing down notes

 “Were the cramp heavy?" He questioned

"Yes"

“How many months are you?"

“Tomorrow is my third month."

"Okay," He looked up away from paper, “Now did you have sex the night you had cramps?"

My face quickly light up feeling with nervousness inside “No,"

Mom smiled; damn she knew I felt embarrassed by her appearance.

 "Is this your first pregnancy?" He continued with the questions

"No,"

“So you’re already,"

 "No," I cut him off “I had a miscarriage last time."

I felt my mom's hand as they rug against my back.

"Sorry to hear that," He replied writing on his paper

 I faintly smile trying not to show any emotions

 He places the pen down and looks back at me “I can't conclude why you’re having cramps at three months, but what I'm going to do is test to see what’s going on with your pregnancy. It will take a week for the results to come back to us."

"Okay," I nodded

I got so worried and at the sometime scared.

I felt my mom arm as they wrapped around my shoulder “Everything will turn out just fine."

 I gave her a half smile "Hope so,"

“You can follow me to the next room to get tested." James got up and made his way toward the door

 I stood up and place my bag on the chair

 “I will be back mom."

 “Do you want me to come along?" she afforded

 "It’s fine."

I walked out of the room leaving my mom alone as I went to go get tested
