Chapter 4

I woke in the morning aching all over and to the sunlight and to the chirps of birds but I still pulled myself up to my feet and stumbled back to my apartment having a quick shower and breakfast before I headed to my teams training grounds ignoring how much my body hurts and I greeted my teammates getting a shy hello from Hinata and a grunt from Shino and Sasuke. When Kakashi arrived three hours late we started our D ranked missions. This continued on me trying to get closer to my teammates only to be shut down or pushed out. Every afternoon I would invite them to train with me but even Hinata would say no so I would go to the training ground and train my taijutsu, genjutsu and learn more ninjutsu one after the other. It didn't matter how much my body ended up getting hurt I would always get up and continue into the morning hours until I got the move or jutsu I was trying.
"Okay everyone, good job catching Tora now lets report to the Hokage" Kakashi eye smiled while I held the demon cat that I wished to roast alive as we headed to the Hokage's office.
"Ok team seven your next mission" Hiuzen Sarutobi, the Hokage started. Hiuzen had white hair showing age, pale skin, age spots on his wrinkled face and he wore the hokage robes and hat on his head.
"Excuse me Hokage-sama, I request a C ranked mission. It is said that after a team does thirty D ranked missions and with their sensei's agreement they can go on a C ranked mission" I interrupted making them look at me.
"Well Kakashi what do you think?" Hiuzen enquired looking more amused than anything.
"You can't be serious," Iruka gasped.
"I think that they are ready for a C rank, Hokage-sama," Kakashi answered and Sarutobi nodded.
"Very well let him in, your mission will be to escourt someone to a place" Sarutobi said.
"What is with the snot nosed brats especially the short skinny one?" the drunk old man demanded and I didn't even need to line up to know he was speaking about me.
"Considering we have been tasked with protecting you sir, I don't think it would be good to make enemies of your protectors now would it?" I asked looking at him my eyes cold and distant for once and narrowed.
"Oh well of course I am the great bridge builder Tazune and you are to protect me on my way back to the wave village from bandits and such things" the old man nervously told us, sweating quite a bit. Tazune had brown hair, tanned skin, a few wrinkles showing his age and the muscles on his arms and legs showed that he had been a builder all his life.
"Right we will set out in the morning so make sure you are at the gates at seven in the morning" Kakashi ordered before I left.
"Hey, you want to train together?" I asked my teammates once again.
"Tch yeah right" Sasuke scoffed before leaving.
"No," Shino bluntly replied, leaving as well.
"Sorry Kuroki-kun my father wants me home" Hinata rejected and I waved her off telling her it was fine. Sighing a little I headed to a different training ground today. I wanted to learn a few water jutsu so I needed a training ground with a pond in it. 

"Right let's start with a simple one" I said to myself looking at the book and studying the signs I would need before putting the book down and started the signs. I focused on putting my chakra into the water and manipulating it before I heard a large gushing and looked up.
"That's not good" I whispered before the large wave of water crashed down on me, making me be swept into the pond. Soon enough I was sinking but as I was I felt arms wrap around me and pull me up towards the surface. I probably wouldn't have needed help if I hadn't been caught off guard.
"Is he okay sensei?" someone asked but my head was a little fuzzy as I turned to the side coughing up the water I had swallowed and laid there panting trying to catch my breath a little.
"Guess I put too much chakra in it.....And I stood too close to the pond" I wheezed as I sat up.
"What the hell were you thinking kid you could have died? Why are you out here practicing those kinds of jutsus without your teammates or sensei?" demanded who I realised was Asuma Sarutobi, he was standing there dripping wet with Shikamaru Nara, Ino Yamanka and Choji Akimichi.
"My teammates didn't want to train with me and my sensei doesn't really train me because I'm not a clan heir" I informed him with a shrug and Asuma looked at me a little in shock.
"Kuroki, that doesn't explain why you are trying water jutsus," Ino pointed out.
"If it isn't obvious I am trying water jutsus so that I can learn the water jutsus. Sometimes I just overpower jutsus or have too little chakra. I can't really tell how much chakra I am putting into the jutsus and the books don't tell me how much chakra to use on each jutsu" I replied.
"Such a drag hasn't Kakashi, your sensei taught you chakra control?" Shikamaru questioned yawning.
"Chakra control? No, the only thing that he has taught me is team work exercises," I said, making Asuma's eyebrow twitch.
"Let me get this right, Kakashi has had his genin team for a whole month and I heard you are going on a C ranked mission tomorrow. But he hasn't even bothered to teach you chakra control yet I have seen him training the other three on your team" Asuma growled, his eyebrow continuing to twitch and I shrugged.
"Well they are clan heirs. I am just an orphan but I can teach myself don't worry" I tried to reassure them, making the twitch get even worse before he let out a breath and lit a cigarette.
"Come on kid, I'll teach you some chakra control exercises" Asuma decided while cursing under his breath and I blinked in shock.
"Really?" I asked, not sure if he was pulling a prank or something of the sort.
"Yeah I was going to get these three to continue doing them to make their chakra reserves bigger so you can join in" Asuma said before he explained about the tree walking exercise.

I started out nearly destroying trees by just placing one foot on the tree and too much chakra. Then I nearly fell because of two feet and not enough chakra in them. Finally half an hour later I got it and I was shakily walking up and down the tree before I was more confident as I was getting better and better at it.
"We are heading off now Kuroki make sure to continue your training and try not to exhaust yourself or hurt yourself" Ino waved and I waved back as they left. After another half an hour of tree walking I decided to try walking on water with my chakra. After all, if I could walk and hang upside down on trees with nothing but my feet I am sure that walking on water would be simple. After being dropped in the water four times I was finally walking on water glad to see that I was getting better at controlling my chakra. It only took me three times and two times being nearly drowned again to get the Suiton Tsunami jutsu down.
"Right the next one is the Suiton blade jutsu" I said before studying the signs and then starting the jutsu. Once I let it go I let out a pained cry and fell to my knees looking at my hands that now had large cuts all over them.
"Damn I forgot to direct it at the tree so instead it lost control and cut my hands up just my luck" I cursed as I grabbed some bandages out wincing as I rolled them onto my hands with some ointment before getting up and trying again. This time I directed it straight to the tree and it sliced into the bark making me happy and a little exhausted. I wasn't surprised when I swayed on the spot and fell back onto the grass looking up at the sky, my hands throbbing but I ignored that as I slowly drifted to sleep.
