Rolling my eyes at the sight in front of me, I quickly looked down at my desk pulling out the rest of my belongings. I didn't want to be here, I didn't want to watch couples kiss, hug, and exchange gifts.
Usually, I would stay home on valentines days, but I'm falling behind in my classes and I needed to ask for some extra credit.
I always hated Valentine's Day. I never had a valentine. Yeah, I'll admit I would like to be with someone and give them so chocolates and maybe a bear. But it never happened. I either get into a relationship right after valentines or before.
"Oh!, turn that frown upside down Y/n it's Valentine's Day!" I looked up to see my professor with a heart shake hat on. I let out a chuckle raising my eyebrows.
"What? You like my new look?"?
Professor Gordon is one of my favorite teachers. He's funny, outgoing, very kind, and it's really easy to talk to him. He's a great listener.
"Not really" He playfully rolls his eyes "hater!"
"I am not...you look ridiculous" I chuckled "yeah yeah...why not look ridiculous on this ridiculous holiday?"
"I guess" he places a hand on my shoulder. "So you don't have a valentine huh?"
"Never had one"
"Well here's a card and sucker...I'm your Valentine" he hands me a card and a heart shaped sucker. "Thanks, Professor...happy Valentine's Day" he nods before walking away.
The class soon started and then ended. I was now on my way home when I accidentally bumped into two people. Looking up I noticed it was a couple. They were holding hands.
Rolling my eyes shoved my way past the two breaking their hands away. Letting out a sigh I quickly ran into my favorite cafe.
Sitting down at a table, I order what I needed and got on my laptop. The cafe was decorated in all red and pink. With big and small hearts on the windows and walls. To say it did look pretty cute.
"Hi, can I sit here?" I heard this raspy voice. The girl sat down in front of me before I can speak. Looking up at her I noticed that she had these bright green eyes. It looked extremely beautiful because the sun was shining on her face.
I gave her a smile "Uh yeah I guess"
She pulls out a teddy bear placing it on the table, along with a bouquet of roses. And a huge heart filled with chocolates. She also had a jumbo card leaning against the booth.
"Well someone going to be extremely happy" I let out a chuckle. She looks at me "oh yeah, I got it for my girlfriend. I went out last night for last minute shopping. It was so hard to find something. All the stores had run out of the life-sized bears" I nod looking back at my laptop.
"Do you have a valentine? What're your plans for tonight...I'm thinking of taking my girlfriend out to dinner, and to a spa" She asked. I shook my head "Uh, no I don't have a valentine but my plans are to finish my homework and go home and watched some shitty romance movie while eating heart-shaped pizza since all the pizza restaurant is only serving them. And then I'll probably steal some chocolate from my room- actually I don't think she's going to be there. She's going to be with her boyfriend....never mind I'll probably buy me a brownie and call it night" I shrugged. She chuckles. "Well here" she handed me a rose out of the bouquet.
I stared at her for a minute and slowly took it. "Thank you"
"Eh, you deserve it. At least you won't go home empty-handed."
I smiled at her "I'm Lauren by the way what's yours?"
"Y/n" she smiles at me. "Well since you're single on Valentine's Day I'll just say happy Independence Day"
"Oh that's a good one" she chuckles "Well happy Valentine's Day Lauren"
"Thank you"
10 minutes passed, Lauren and I got engaged in a conversation.
I had finished my drink and Finished my homework so I was ready to go. "I Uh have to get going so I'll probably see you later"
"Ok bye y/n"
"Tell me if she liked the gifts...thank you for the roses again" I chuckle "ok I'll text you" I shoved my laptop in my bag and walked out.
Once I got home I did what I planned. I order me a heart-shaped pepperoni pizza and a brownie and put on a movie.
I changed into some PJs and crawled under my covers.
I heard a knock on my door. I opened the door to see the pizza guy. "Hello" he waves "two pepperoni pizzas? And a brownie?"
"What no I only order 1" he furrowed his eyebrows "really?...huh well have the second one for free. Happy Valentine's Day" I smiled at him "thank you" he hands me my food and I gave him the money.
Closing the door I placed my food on my bed. I crawled back into the bed.
Grabbing my phone I noticed I had a text.
Lauren: can I come over?
You: don't you have a date tonight?
Lauren: yeah I thought I did but she bailed on me.
Lauren: more like she ended the relationship
You: I'm sorry Lauren you didn't to deserve that...ofc you can come over
Lauren: really?
You: yeah I'm in building 3 room 26
Lauren: we live in the same building. Can't believe I never saw you before
Lauren: I'll be there in 5
I quickly straighten up my room and waited for her. Soon there was a knock on the door. Opening it Lauren appeared.
"Hey" she drops the gifts that were in her arms.
She steps in pulling me into a hug. "Are you ok?" I asked her once we pulled away. "No I'm not this is shit I now officially hate Valentine's Day" I chuckled.
"Welcome to the team...Hey, why did you bring her gifts?"
"Because I want to give them to you. I can't look at them right now, and plus you deserve them. And I kinda sorta threw away the receipts"
"Oh well um thank you I guess" she hands them to me. I placed everything on my roommate's bed. "Well since you're here, I got an extra pizza you can have it" I handed her the box. She smiles at me "thank you" she sits on my bed. I crawled in too.
I open my box. I wasn't going to cut it because I'm lazy so I took a bite"
"I also got brownies"
"I don't like chocolate"
"Oh I'm sorry" she shrugs "eh it's ok"
There was a moment of silence.
"Happy Independence Day?" I glanced her. She chuckles "happy
Independence Day".......Happy Valentines Day to you all.
And if you're single Happy Independence Day!
