I'm reading outside on my spare when I get a message from Tasha.

Where r u rn?

I set my book on the bench and message her back.

Outside reading.

Three minutes later, she's wandering out of the English wing doors and a big smile crosses her glowing face.

"Don't you have class?" I ask her.

She tackles me into a huge and mutters, "yeah, but I wanted to talk to you." Her voice gets serious, and I pull my legs up on onto the bench and hold my knees in my arms. She leans back and squeezes my shoulder, a concerned look crossing her face. "It's probably none of my business," she starts, and that's when I know I have to tell her everything. She's not one of those friends that says 'okay, talk' when she wants to know something. As curious as she is, she completely respects my privacy, but when it comes down to it, she's the only one I want to talk to about it.

I sigh and rest my head against my knees. I want to cry. Something inside of me just hurts.

Tasha rubs my shoulder soothingly. "Axel?" She asks. "Tanner?"

I nod. "Both."

"Babe," she breathes, wrapping her arms around me. "I was going to talk to you about the party, I just," she groans, "I didn't think you'd want to tell me."

I chuckle, my body shaking, nerves rushing through me. "It's not just that."

I glance up at Tasha, her big, brown eyes full of kindness and understanding. "Do you want to start from the beginning?"

The beginning. I don't even know what the beginning is. I lick my lips and spit the words out. "I kissed Axel."

Tasha gasps and slaps my knee, and I jump back slightly.

"And not just that," I tell her, "he, uh, he fingered me. In a fucking alley. And I..."

Tasha stares at me in horror. "You...?"

I nod.

"I mean," she sputters, unable to hide the tiny smile playing on her lips. "Okay. Okay, okay, okay. Um—" she looks around, at the school, at the grass, at the trees, trying to think of what to say other than bursting with the excitement that's already radiating off of her. "How did it happen?" She comes to a question finally.

Good job Tasha.

I tell her about my book - about trying to get it back from Axel and then accidentally flirting with him, falling on him, and totally accidentally kissing him when I was still dating Tanner. She nods the whole time, continuing to ship us. I tell her about all of the times Axel and I talked, obviously leaving out personal details that I have no right to share, and how, without my realizing it, we've somehow connected and he ended up bursting into the party and dragging me away from Tanner.
